Hi Gina, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I grew up immersed in the martial arts industry, following in the footsteps of my father. My entire family and I have dedicated our lives to this field, with locations in both Florida and Saint Louis. From the age of 13, I started learning the business side of martial arts, growing not just as a businesswoman but also as someone passionate about changing lives through martial arts. In 2024, I opened my first location in Creve Coeur with Grandmaster Kim, which was a milestone in my journey. Today, I’m proud to say that all my siblings are actively involved in the industry as well, and together, we continue to make a positive impact in our communities.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
As a businesswoman, you’re truly a jack of all trades, and the road hasn’t always been smooth. There are constant challenges, from managing operations to marketing, staffing, and ensuring every student and family feels valued and supported. One of the biggest struggles has been balancing the personal and professional aspects of life while maintaining the quality and vision of our martial arts programs. Despite the hurdles, every challenge has been an opportunity to grow, both personally and professionally. It’s the love for what I do and the positive impact on our students that keeps me going, even when the road gets tough.
As you know, we’re big fans of Master Kim’s martial arts . For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
We teach Taekwondo for children, teens, and adults, offering classes designed for all skill levels and ages. Our school is one of the most recognized martial arts academies in the area, not just for the quality of our training but also for our commitment to fostering personal growth.
What sets us apart is our focus on character-building life skills. Beyond the physical techniques, we teach confidence, discipline, focus, perseverance, and respect—traits that our students carry into every aspect of their lives. We believe martial arts is not just about self-defense but also about self-improvement, helping students become the best version of themselves.
