Meet Shannon Roman of Wildwood

Today we’d like to introduce you to Shannon Roman

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Since I was little, I’ve always been drawn to textures and colors. This fascination led me to pursue a degree in fine art from the University of Missouri and to explore various artistic endeavors over the years.

In the past few years, I’ve tapped into something truly meaningful. As I began experimenting with textural, colorful landscapes, I found myself painting the national parks more and more frequently. I realized they aren’t just breathtakingly beautiful—they embody so much of what I value in life and in art.

National parks inspire a spirit of adventure, offering countless paths to explore and endless wonders to discover. They also stand as a testament to our shared belief in the value of seeking beauty and embracing the call of adventure. Painting the parks has become a way for me to honor these ideals while inviting others to connect with them as well.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I’ve been really blessed to have people in my life who saw the intrinsic value in my art even before it became a business endeavor. My parents always encouraged and celebrated my interests, and my husband has been a huge creative influence—exposing me to inspiring ideas, sharing meaningful discussions, and insisting that I make time to paint, even when our kids were small.

That said, carving out that time wasn’t easy. I had three very young children at home, a husband who traveled frequently, and many responsibilities competing for my attention. It’s often much easier to explain why you couldn’t pursue something than to push through the hurdles and rejections that come with actually doing it.

I often remind myself that to be an artist, you have to be brave. There’s vulnerability in putting your work out there and in facing the ups and downs of the creative journey. But I also believe there’s great value in my kids seeing me pursue my passion, even when it’s hard. It’s important to show them that meaningful work is worth the effort, and that persistence and courage can lead to something truly fulfilling.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I paint national parks and other iconic landscapes, using fearless colors and whimsical textures to convey their spirit of adventure and wonder. My work stands apart through its vibrant, expressive approach, offering a fresh perspective on these cherished places. Seeing my collection as a whole—a bold, cohesive celebration of nature’s beauty and the joy of exploration—is one of my greatest sources of pride.

Alright so before we go can you talk to us a bit about how people can work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
