Today we’d like to introduce you to Joslyn Sandifer
Hi Joslyn , we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I started by being a “big” sister. I always tell people that God placed in me a natural desire to defend, protect, advocate and counsel. As the oldest of five (5) children I honed my skills as an advocate at a very young age. I have been “me” for as long as I can remember. The law has just been a vehicle to allow me to become more of who I also have been.
My second grade teacher actually told me I should be a lawyer because I loved to talk. And though I was not sure what a lawyer did, I was excited about doing something that allowed me to do the one thing I was always good at doing…. talking.
Ultimately after becoming a lawyer, my desire to help (and help in my own way) never changed. I did not set out to start a firm, but being able to provide services to people who look like me has been an easy transition. I have had a number of challenges, but have rested in God’s grace and favor. I attribute my success to God and my husband actually (because he basically forced me to start my firm).
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
No road worth traveling is likely “smooth”. It has been fulfilling. Honestly, from the very beginning God blew on Sandifer & Associates. We have generally practiced the law that we’ve wanted with the people we most value. Obviously, doing something you have never done before (like running a business) comes with its own challenges. However, I try to keep a short memory and keep moving after I experience bumps/ bruises along the way.
As you know, we’re big fans of Sandifer & Associates Attorneys at Law. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
Sandifer & Associates is a firm built on the idea that Black people deserve good legal representation by/through Black attorneys. Our goal is to treat our client with dignity and respect. We have a team of beautifully talented women who care about our clients and our community. If you decide to come into our office you are making a decision to come home to people that look like you and choose to server you.
Brand wise I am most proud that we are know as serious and fierce advocates. We are blessed that our community trust us with very serious and complex matters. If I could share anything with the readers, I want the readers to know that what we offer is hope backed by actual results.
Is there anyone you’d like to thank or give credit to?
My husband is my number one cheerleader. He surely wants to push me forward and achieve the highest levels of success possible. Right behind him, is my loving family. My parents, siblings, aunts and uncles have always been a tremendous help, cheering me on at every hand. Finally my childhood friends (yes 30+ years of friendship); church and community (ESL specifically) have always been sources of encouragement and support.
