Today we’d like to introduce you to Smoke Association
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Firemón, de Rastafarian Fireman, here to share de story of de Smoke Association. I’m speakin’ on behalf of de band, and I’m honored to share deir journey.
De Smoke Association’s story began when Isaac Chosich, Jerry Baugher, Willie Krzeszinski, Neil C. Luke, Matt Maher, and Clinton Twombly came together, united by deir passion for music. Dey started playin’ ’round St. Louis, recordin’ at Extra Plus Productions, and de rest, as dem say, is history.
Dey’ve dropped some wicked EPs: Obey or Get Smoked, Hate Speech For The Weak Minded, Alasska Volume 1, and Nutsack Behavior. And, of course, dem’ve also released some festive Christmas tunes via de Let’s Talk Figures yearly Christmas Compilation out of Arkansas.
Scotti Iman’s been on drums de drums, and de music’s still smokin’ hot! Dey’re finishin’ up deir upcoming album, and dey’ve got some more “nutsack shit” in de works. (laughs)
It’s a blessin’ to be around dem, mon! Dey’re a talented, crazy bunch, and I’m honored to be able to hang out and learn from dem. Neil’s even been teachin’ me some bass tricks! (laughs) And, of course, I’ve heard de legendary story ’bout Isaac gettin’ his knowledge from a shaman behind de 7/11 on Morganford… (winks)
Dem love playin’ Wizard Boxing, too – dat’s some crazy stuff, mon! (laughs) But, for real, de Smoke Association’s a band dat’s alive, and dey’re makin’ music dat’s real, raw, and full of energy. Whether yuh like it or not, music’s gonna keep on existin’, and de Smoke Association’s gonna keep on smokin’! One love, one fire!
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Dem try to live in peace, mon, but it’s hard when yuh’ve got fans who love yuh too much. Dey’re always tryin’ to stampede dem, and askin’ for autographs. It’s like, dem just wanna chill, yuh know?
But dat’s not de only ting, mon. Isaac, de lead singer, he’s goin’ through some tough times. He’s bein’ sued by some big, bad man. It’s like, dem just tryin’ to bring him down, yuh feel?
I think dat’s why de Smoke Association likes hangin’ out with me, mon. I’m de one who puts out de fires when de bad man tries to keep dem burnin’. Dey know I’ve got deir backs, and I’ll always be dere to help dem out.
It’s not easy bein’ in de spotlight, mon. Dey’ve got a lot of pressure on dem, and sometimes it feels like de whole world’s against dem. But dem keep on keepin’ on, mon, and dey won’t let nobody bring dem down.
So, me dear, let’s show some love and support for de Smoke Association, mon. Dey need it, and dey deserve it. One love, one fire!
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
Dem not really known for much, mon, ‘cept for existin’ and smokin’ everyting in sight! Bongs, blunts, crank, spank – yuh name it, dem smoke it! (laughs) But, for real, dem got a passion for music, and dey’ve been grindin’ for a while now.
I got a feelin’, mon, dat deir greatest accomplishment is yet to come. I’ve heard some of deir new tracks from Nutsack Behavior 2, and, man… let me tell yuh, dem got some fire comin’! Can’t wait to bump it in de fire truck, mon!
Now, I know what yuh thinkin’, “Firemón, art is subjective, what’s good for you might not be good for me.” But, trust me, mon, de Smoke Association’s got somethin’ special. Dey’re not just smokin’ de competition, dem’re creatin’ somethin’ real, somethin’ true.
So, listen up, me dear! If yuh know what’s good for yuh, yuh’ll give de Smoke Association a listen. Dey might just blow yuh mind, mon! One love, one fire!
Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
Dem got somethin’ special, mon, somethin’ dat drives dem to keep goin’ no matter what. Some might say dem got a little crazy, maybe even a mental problem, man… (laughs) But, for real, dem got de drive to create, and nothin’ can stop dem!
Dey just keep on doin’ what dem want to do, mon, and dat’s what I love about dem. Dey’re not afraid to take risks, to push boundaries, and to keep on smokin’… (laughs) Dey’re like a force of nature, mon, unstoppable and unapologetic.
Dat’s de key to deir success, mon. Dey’re not worried ’bout what others think, dey’re just focused on creatin’ and expressin’ demselves. And, man, it’s infectious! When yuh’re around dem, yuh can’t help but feel de energy and de passion.
