Today we’d like to introduce you to Anna Beck.
Hi Anna , can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Hi, I’m Anna! I am an attorney and digital creator and live in University City with my family. My entire life, I’ve been drawn to creativity and connection. I grew up loving art, writing, and baking – especially with my mom in the kitchen. That love for storytelling led me to study journalism in college, and it was during that time I started my blog, Urban Apron, as a creative outlet.
After college, I went on to law school. It was an avenue where I could use my writing skills and build a foundation for helping people in a meaningful way. I worked at law firms after graduation and gained valuable experience, but I felt a pull toward something more personal and purpose-driven. Deep down, I’ve always known I wasn’t meant for just one path.
At my core, I’m a sensitive, thoughtful person with a big heart, always searching for deeper meaning in my work. Over the years – and especially after becoming a mom of three – I’ve leaned into using my talents in new ways: writing, creating content, sharing real glimpses of motherhood, and helping others live more intentionally.
Today, I’m an attorney, writer, and creator who gets to blend creativity, wellness, and purpose. One of the things I’m most passionate about right now is spreading the word about waterless skincare, after partnering with the brand Olive Tree People to help launch it in the United States. It’s been a meaningful way to help people feel good in their skin and embrace rituals that support both beauty and wellness.
Whether I’m sharing a favorite clean recipe or introducing someone to skincare products that truly make a difference, I’m always so proud to say that I live a multi-dimensional life rooted in heart, impact, and joy.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
My dad always says, “Anything worth anything is not going to be easy.” And isn’t that the truth?
Nothing meaningful comes without bumps in the road. But with each hurdle, you grow, you change, and you become better because of it – I believe that to be true with all my heart.
It definitely hasn’t always been a smooth road. I’ve wrestled with self-doubt and the pressure to “pick a lane” when deep down, I knew I was meant for a more layered, creative path. Law school and working at firms taught me a lot, but there were moments when I felt disconnected from my own purpose. I craved work that felt more personal, more creative, and more aligned with the kind of impact I wanted to make. That’s a hard path to follow when society expects you to show up to one job and be content with it.
Motherhood also brought its own set of challenges and changes. After having kids, my perspective shifted. I became more intentional with my time and energy and started building a life and career that reflected my values – not just what looked good on paper. Who we are and our success go far beyond our accolades and degrees.
There’s been trial and error, pivots, and plenty of imperfect moments – but through it all, I’ve learned to trust my instincts, follow what lights me up, and create a life and work that feels meaningful to me and (hopefully) helpful to others.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I would describe my work as a blend of creativity, connection, and service.
By day, I work part-time at an estate planning law firm, helping families in Illinois and Missouri protect what matters most and plan ahead.
Alongside that, I’ve built a creative platform through my blog, Urban Apron, and on social media, where I share clean recipes, motherhood moments, and a glimpse into what I like to call my “creative chaos.” What started as a baking blog in college has grown into something much more – it’s become a space where I connect with others through writing, real-life moments, and things that bring joy and meaning.
I’m also a brand consultant and leader with Olive Tree People, a European skincare brand known for their use of the olive tree in their waterless products. I’m passionate about spreading the word about this bioactive skincare and helping people feel confident in their skin – both inside and out. Introducing Olive Tree People to my community has been incredibly fulfilling, as it combines my love for wellness, education, and making a meaningful impact in people’s daily lives. I also mentor a team of consultants, guiding them every step of the way. It’s the most fulfilling and fun part of my work. Our community truly is everything.
What sets me apart is that I don’t fit into one box – and I’m completely okay with that! I lead with heart, share with honesty, and embrace exploring multiple paths at once. My goal is always the same: to help, uplift, and make someone’s life a little better.
I’m most proud of creating a life and career that reflects who I am – layered, real, and purpose-driven.
Have you learned any interesting or important lessons due to the Covid-19 Crisis?
On a personal level, I learned how to prioritize what truly matters – family, health, and well-being. The unpredictability of those early days made me realize how much I had taken for granted, and I formed a deeper appreciation for the simple things. I also discovered the importance of being present and intentional, especially as a mom and a professional juggling multiple roles. It was all about adaptation and growth, and that continues to be true for me. I’m always adapting, always finding my meaning in this life.
