Today we’d like to introduce you to Kennedy Brauer.
Hi Kennedy, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I graduated chiropractic school in 2020, what a year! I started practicing in Highland, Illinois and then found out I was pregnant with my son. I decided I needed a job with more life family balance. In January of 2021, I started working for Alternative Solutions and then bought the business on October 1, 2021. Fun fact- my son was 2 months old, call me insane because I was!
I have my Masters degree in Sports and Rehabilitation, Doctorate of Chiropractic, Certification by the Academy Council of Chiropractic Pediatrics, Webster Certified, and Perinatal Certified. I am also trained in Dynamic Body Balancing. I enjoy pushing myself to be the best at what I do and always strive to further my education.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Absolutely not! As I noted earlier, my son was 2 months old when I closed on the business. My then boss came to meet him and told me that I could either buy it or she was selling. I’m now very thankful for the push from her but it was so scary. My husband will tell you that he was eavesdropping in the bedroom and almost passed out from nerves!
I’ve hired an employee that did not work out and quite frankly drained the business. I had to build back from literally nothing at 4 weeks postpartum with my daughter. However, that made me the business woman I am today and I am so thankful for that experience.
In February of this year, my office flooded. THANKFULLY, I just rent so things could have been so much worse but it was very scary for 36 hours while we played the waiting game.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Alternative Solutions Chiropractic ?
We are a family based chiropractic office. We hold special certifications in pregnancy and pediatrics. We also offer functional medicine, acupuncture/dry needling, massage, dynamic body balancing, lactation counseling and childbirth education classes.
We have two chiropractors, a doula and lactation consultant, and a massage therapist on staff.
We strive to be a one stop shop for families. When women decide they are trying to conceive, we want them under care and then we get to follow them throughout their entire motherhood journey. It truly is a blessing.
I want people to know that we are there to serve them. Our entire team never stops striving to be our best. You will constantly find us at trainings to better ourselves so that we can better help others.
What matters most to you?
My family is my everything! Without them, none of this would have been possible. My husband and kids have given up a lot to make this business what it is today and I owe it all to them.
Actually, my kids are the sole reason why I don’t work Fridays! It’s my day with them and I look forward to it every week.
