Today we’d like to introduce you to Bekah Harris.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Two Pink Elephants started as a
home-based business in 2013. As two moms with business and marketing backgrounds who loved fashion, we started doing trunk shows in women’s homes.
The business steadily grew,
and we opened the current location in O’Fallon MO, in April of 2015. Over the years, the business has evolved, and in June of 2024, Bekah Harris became the sole owner.
A little about me:
I have spent most of my life in
St. Louis, attended Lafayette High school, and graduated from Maryville University with a Marketing degree. I met my husband in middle school, and we married in 2002. We have 3 children and live in O’Fallon MO, less than 2 miles from the shop. Operating a small business in the same community where I live and where my kids attend school is a privilege. So many of our customers are friends, neighbors and teachers in the area, and I love that connection to the community. My sole aim when you come through the door at Two Pink Elephants is to provide you with a fabulous shopping experience and help you feel great about yourself.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
There have definitely been struggles throughout the 10+ years. We had steady growth for several years and when the pandemic hit, we had to pivot quickly. We added a majority of our inventory to our website, offered free shipping, made personal deliveries to local customers and tried to re-open as soon as possible. It changed the way we operated and it’s changed how many people shop today. Two Pink Elephants has survived solely because of the loyal customers who have supported us from the trunk show days, through the COVID shutdowns and beyond. We are truly honored and grateful.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
Two Pink Elephants has been in business for over 10 years. We sell women’s clothing and accessories. We are known for offering trendy pieces at affordable prices. New items arrive almost every day. Each time you visit us, you can expect to see something new. When you come into the shop, we want you to feel good about yourself and excited about your purchase. The business started in my home and since opening the shop in 2015, I have always said I want our customers to feel welcomed and comfortable, like a guest in my home. I am most proud of the relationships that have been built inside our 4 walls. We have several customers (now friends), who have shopped with us since the beginning.
What would you say have been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
The most important thing I’ve learned is to expect change and be prepared to pivot.
