Community Highlights: Meet Amanda Hausmann of MomMoment LLC

Today we’d like to introduce you to Amanda Hausmann.

Hi Amanda, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
In 2024, I was a career-oriented attorney and mother of 2 toddler girls, drowning in to-dos, constantly wishing I could call in help to catch the balls I was about to drop. At the end of every day, after working my 9-5 job and then spending 5-9pm with my family, I would collapse on the couch only to be reminded of my never ending to-do list: dinner dishes to clean up, laundry to put in the dryer (after being washed twice because I didn’t move it the first time), Amazon returns to make, etc. While I felt this, I saw posts from stay-at-home moms in Facebook groups asking how they could earn $50 here or there. They didn’t want full time jobs but wanted flexible work opportunities to earn some income. I’d think to myself: we could really help each other. I’d pay someone to come write ‘Thank you’ cards right now! I researched marketplaces and found apps to hire handy(wo)men, hire a driver, or even a babysitter but no one to help me tackle my “mom to-do list”. That’s when the gap in the marketplace became clear to me, and I decided to build the solution I wished existed. I quit my fulltime job in November 2024, created MomMoment LLC in December 2024, engaged an app development company in January 2025, and developed, tested, and launched both apps in early June 2025.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Quitting my fulltime job was a big decision. My husband, without hesitation, encouraged and supported me in this decision but it wasn’t an easy one. Much of my identity was in being an attorney, a team leader, and a “working mom”. Part of me felt as though I was throwing away all the time and money put into going to law school. The other part of me felt deeply called to lighten the load of working moms and change the way women live their lives.

Developing the apps – I have zero tech background. In fact, I think I once downloaded a virus onto my computer! Terms like “UI”, “UX”, “wireframe”, and “tech stack” were not in my vocabulary before January 2025. I am learning something new about app development every day!

Finding Askers – Finding Askers to not only sign up but use the apps has been a challenge during these early launch months. The supply side (Helpers) is bountiful. The demand side (Askers) is requiring more time, energy, and money to acquire and convert Askers to completed tasks.

Funding – MomMoment, as of today, is entirely self-funded by my husband, me, and 1 generous donor: my mother, Darlene Dwyer. She has always been my #1 fan. Her belief in my dreams and my capability to accomplish anything I put my mind to is the foundation of this company.

Time Management – Starting a business requires a lot of time. I went from having a 9-5 fulltime job to a 24/7 fulltime job. I’ve spent the last 6 months on late night phone calls with my offshore app developers, devouring hours of recorded founder stories to learn from their sage advice, drafting my Terms of Use and Privacy Policy, and testing the apps hundreds of times. I’ve rocked a baby in the middle of the night while talking with my app developers on the phone. I’ve attended my daughter’s ninja class while reviewing wireframe designs. Working for yourself and creating a useful product requires a lot of time!

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
MomMoment is the first marketplace app catered to moms helping moms. It connects “moms who need a hand with moms who understand” to tackle everyday tasks like cooking, cleaning, laundry, organizing, and personal assistance tasks. It eases the financial burden for stay-at-home/retired moms giving them opportunities to earn income doing what they are good at at a time that works for them while lightening the load of working moms.

There are 2 apps: MomMoment Asker and MomMoment Helper available on the Apple App Store and Google Play Store. Askers use the Asker app; Helpers use the Helper app. Askers can hire a Helper directly or post a task for bidding/acceptance by Helpers nearby. Once booked, Askers and Helpers can chat in the app, complete the task, pay, rate and review.

It is presently available for use in the greater St. Louis area with plans to expand soon!

User security is a priority. MomMoment runs identify verification checks on every user and public criminal records searches on all Helpers.

You do not need a “mom” title to join MomMoment. If you have a hand to lend or need a helping hand (and are 18+), you can join the MomMoment community.

The SECRET to MomMoment’s success is:
Support – we believe in celebrating women asking for help, and women helping women
Empathy – we understand the unique challenges and joys of motherhood
Connection- we foster relationships to make life more manageable and fulfilling
Realism – we acknowledge the reality of parenthood (including piles of laundry, messy toy rooms, and needing more enough time in the day)
Empowerment – we provide opportunities for moms to thrive emotionally and financially
Trust – we prioritize safety, transparency, and reliability

We are looking for Askers to post tasks! There are 200 Helpers in the greater St. Louis area ready to assist. Tasks completed thus far include organizing a storage room, laundry assistance, taking watches to a repair shop, delivering cupcakes from a bakery to a babyshower, and helping a mom swap out clothes in her children’s closets.

If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
I try to live and lead my business by embodying my 5 Cs: Compassionate, Curious, Communicative, Consistent, and Capable. Every day I aim to consistently show up with a curious mindset, a heart for helping women, and a commitment to providing a quality product.

Pricing:

  • The MomMoment Asker app is presently free to download.
  • The MomMoment Helper app is presently free to dowload for Founding Members. Helpers will soon pay a public criminal records check fee when downloading the MomMoment Helper app.
  • MomMoment charges Askers a service fee on top of the task fee.
