Today we’d like to introduce you to Emil Hector.
Hi Emil, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
At just nine years old, I returned to the United States from Palestine. I didn’t speak much English, and immediately I was singled out. I was picked on for my skin color, for not understanding the language, and for my skin tone. No matter where I turned, there was no escape from it.
My dad decided to put me into boxing, and that single decision changed the entire direction of my life. At first, it was just a way to fight back, but before long, I fell in love with the sweet science. Boxing became my teacher. I learned discipline. I learned respect. I learned how to get knocked down and stand back up—inside and outside the ring. Every round made me stronger, more resilient, and more grounded in who I was becoming.
One day it clicked for me: if I could step into the ring, take a beating, and still come back stronger, then there was nothing in life I couldn’t face. From then on, I embraced challenges instead of running from them. Win or lose, I knew I was growing.
By 13, I was working at Title Boxing Club. That’s where I experienced my first real glimpse of how boxing could impact lives beyond my own. A young girl named Katie Klein started training with me when she was just 10 years old. She wasn’t just learning to throw punches—she was learning how to face her fears. At 15, she stood in the ring before one of my fights and sang the national anthem, overcoming her stage fright in front of a crowd. Today, she has five records out on Spotify and Apple Music, her voice inspiring people everywhere. That was the moment I realized: if I could be a hero for her, I could be a hero for countless others.
But even with boxing, I spent years chasing the world—fueled by pride, chasing things that never filled me. No matter what I achieved, my cup was never full. It wasn’t until I surrendered my life to Jesus that everything changed. Through trials, failures, and pain, Jesus saved me. The moment I laid down my gloves at the cross and gave it all to Him, I found true victory.
Now, I carry that mission forward through Resilient Boxing. This isn’t just a gym—it’s a faith-based community where lives are transformed. Here, boxing isn’t only about throwing punches—it’s about building resilience, finding strength, and changing hearts. I’ve seen kids and adults alike discover confidence, discipline, and hope in and out of the ring.
Resilient Boxing is living proof that when you take the hits, get back up, and put your faith in something greater than yourself, you can overcome anything. My story began with pain, but today it’s about purpose—and every life changed through this gym is a testament to God’s glory
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The struggles along the way weren’t just in the ring. For years, I found myself hanging around the wrong crowd—people who doubted me, put me down, and couldn’t see the vision I had for my life. On top of that, I faced constant ridicule for my skin color and for living with ADHD. People thought I was “crazy” for some of the dreams I wanted to chase. But time and time again, I proved to myself—and to them—that with resilience, hard work, and faith, those dreams could become reality.
What kept me going was belief in myself and, more importantly, belief in God. Every step, every obstacle, every doubt thrown my way became fuel to keep pressing forward. Today, I stand not only as someone who overcame those struggles, but as the founder of two businesses—living proof that with faith and perseverance, anything is possible. And through it all, I give every ounce of glory to God.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
I credit every bit of my success to my faith in God. Eight years ago, I started a fire extinguisher business—an industry where getting in front of decision-makers is almost impossible. Everyone doubted me. But God had other plans. Some of my biggest customers ended up walking right through the doors of Resilient Boxing, the faith-based gym I later built to change lives.
Resilient Boxing is different. We don’t just teach boxing—we remember your name, your story, and we help you find the best version of yourself, both spiritually and physically. We’re the only gym in the area that can measure every punch you throw—even on an app. And somehow, by God’s grace, we’re ranked #1 on Google.
If you’ve ever thought about trying boxing, now’s the time. There’s a strength and freedom you find in the ring that you can’t find anywhere else. And when you open your heart to Jesus, you’ll experience a love like no other—a love with no conditions.

We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
To me, success isn’t about money, titles, or comfort—it’s about growth. Real success comes when you challenge yourself, step into pain, and push past it. On the other side of struggle is the strength you need to keep becoming who you were meant to be.
Too many people settle. They get comfortable with where they are—physically, mentally, and spiritually. But we are called to grow. Success means refusing to stay the same. It means stepping out of your comfort zone, learning, failing, getting back up, and becoming stronger every time.
True success is resilience—choosing to level up, no matter what it costs.
