I started cutting hair over 25 years ago with nothing more than a pair of clippers and a passion for helping people look and feel their best. Over the years, I’ve owned and operated several barbershops and beauty salons, learning every side of the business — from branding and customer service to product sales and leadership.
Today, I’m the owner of Fade Focus Gallery in St. Louis, a modern barbershop built around professionalism, creativity, and community. I also developed TCM The Classic Man, a men’s grooming line that represents excellence in self-care and style. My goal has always been to create spaces and products that inspire confidence not just through appearance, but through mindset and experience.
Every step of my journey has been about growth, faith, and consistency turning lessons into leadership and a craft into a calling.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The road definitely hasn’t been smooth. Like many entrepreneurs, I’ve faced financial challenges, staff turnover, and the ups and downs that come with running a service-based business. There were times when I had to rebuild from scratch balancing family, leadership, and business at the same time.
One of the biggest challenges was learning how to step out of the chair and focus on systems, not just skills. I had to transition from being the main worker to becoming a true business owner building teams, setting standards, and creating consistency even when I wasn’t behind the chair.
Through every setback, I leaned on faith, resilience, and constant learning. Those struggles became the foundation for my growth, teaching me discipline, humility, and leadership that money alone can’t buy.
