Life & Work with Katie Ruppert of Lake St. Louis

Today we’d like to introduce you to Katie Ruppert.

Hi Katie, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
For most of my life, I looked like I was doing all the “right” things.

I was productive, capable, reliable, and always the one who could hold it all together. I built businesses, showed up for others, and kept moving—even when my nervous system was quietly waving a white flag. From the outside, it looked like success. On the inside, it often felt like pressure, overwhelm, and a constant sense that I was pushing against myself.

Yoga was my first real doorway back to myself. What started as a physical practice quickly became a lifeline—one that taught me how to slow down, listen inward, and recognize that forcing my way through life wasn’t actually strength. That path eventually led me to become a 500-hour certified yoga instructor, but more importantly, it opened my curiosity about why some approaches worked beautifully for some people and felt exhausting for others.

That question changed everything.

I found Human Design during a season when I was doing and teaching all the “personal growth” things and still felt stuck. It wasn’t another system telling me who to become—it gave me permission to stop trying to be someone else. Human Design helped me understand my energy, my decision-making, and why certain patterns of burnout and self-doubt kept repeating. Instead of fixing myself, I started working with myself.

Inspired by Design grew out of that shift to authenticity.

Today, my work blends Human Design, mindset coaching, and nervous system awareness in a way that’s practical, accessible, and grounded in real life. Through my podcast, workshops, and speaking engagements, I help women—especially those who are successful, capable, and quietly overwhelmed—understand themselves better so they can make decisions with less resistance and more ease.
I’m not interested in massive life overhauls or perfection. I care about the next honest step. The one that makes life feel lighter, not harder.

The Inspired by Design podcast was created as a space for real conversations about self-discovery, health, energy, and what it actually looks like to live well in the middle of a busy life. It’s for women who sense there’s more available to them—but don’t want to burn everything down to find it.

At its core, Inspired by Design is about remembering that you’re not broken—you’re just meant to use your energy the way you were designed for, in flow. And when you understand that, you can really begin to listen to your inner knowing to lighten your load, without blowing up your life.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Not at all—and that’s actually been one of the most important parts of the journey.

What eventually smoothed the road wasn’t talent, strategy, or an intellectual understanding. It was a transformation in self trust. I had to learn to recognize resistance not as a personal flaw, but as information—often coming from anxiety or a dysregulated nervous system, not from truth or “right” or “wrong”

One of the biggest struggles was realizing that intellectual understanding isn’t the same as embodiment. I had plenty of “aha” moments early on. I could explain what was happening, why I felt the way I did, and even what I should do differently. But there was a gap between what I knew and what I could actually access in real time—especially when my nervous system was activated.

At first, awareness came after the fact. I’d move through a challenging moment, feel disappointed in myself, and only later process what had really been going on. That was frustrating, and at times discouraging. But I began to see that this, too, was part of the work.

Much like yoga, self trust is a practice. Trusting your inner knowing—your intuition—doesn’t happen all at once. The more you meet yourself with curiosity instead of judgment, the more awareness becomes available in the moment, not just in hindsight.

Another struggle was the internal work of repairing self-trust and self-love after disappointment. Learning to meet myself with compassion instead of self-criticism was not something anyone could do for me. It was deeply internal, and it required support—teachers, mentors, community—so I didn’t feel isolated or “crazy” for questioning old ways of being.

Over time, the road didn’t become effortless, but it has become clearer. Resistance feels like a cue instead of a stop sign. Anxiety became something I could listen to or acknowledge without letting it derail my day (or project). That shift is what now informs my work. I don’t teach from theory—I teach from practice, from lived experience, and from the ongoing commitment to choose self-trust again and again.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
At the heart of my work, I help people understand themselves better so life feels lighter—not a discipline of more things to do. I’m a transformational coach, Human Design Reader, yoga instructor, speaker, and the host of the Inspired by Design podcast, and I look at everything I do through the lens of Human Design to move away from overwhelm and burn out

What sets me apart is that I support as a bridge between worlds that don’t always speak the same language. I’m comfortable in the corporate and professional development space—talking about mindset, communication, leadership, and wellness—and I’m equally at home in the more intuitive, energetic, and “woo” world. I use tools like Human Design, astrology, reiki, breath-work and lunar rhythms to offer a fresh, grounded way of navigating life without blowing it up, starting over or picking one over another.

I’m not here to help people escape their lives. I help them work with and start to love the one they already have.

Through yoga, coaching, speaking, and team-based workshops, I support individuals and organizations in creating more equilibrium—much like the yin-yang symbol. Life isn’t about finding a fixed state of balance; it’s about learning how to continually recalibrate. Whether I’m teaching a yoga class, leading a workshop, or supporting a team’s wellness or communication initiatives, the goal is the same: less resistance, more ease, and better self-trust.

I’m most proud of the fact that my work is deeply practical. I don’t just share concepts—I help people build a personal tool belt made up of the very practices that helped me move from hustle to flow. Human Design informs everything I offer, but it’s always applied in a real-world, accessible way.

At the end of the day, my message is simple: you’re not meant to do life the same way as everyone else. My “mess” truly became my message of a fresh approach to what isn’t working anymore and I’m always right in the messy middle actively practicing, embodying, and learning alongside the people I’m here to support.

What does success mean to you?
Success, to me, isn’t tied to an outcome or achievement. It’s a felt experience. When I feel alive and energized, when my body and mind are clear, resilient, and hopeful—that’s success.

I measure success by how I move through my days – Am I present? Am I curious? Do I feel connected to myself and the life I’m living? Am I showing up as the person I want to be?

I’m more interested in the joy of the journey than the destination. When I’m grounded in my body, clear in my mind, and open just the right next step, I know I’m on the right path—regardless of how things look from the outside.
