Today we’d like to introduce you to Lisa Molitor.
Hi Lisa, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’ve been a wedding florist since 2008 when I opened Belli Fiori. Belli Fiori is our full service provider for weddings. I found that some clients didn’t necessarily want or need full service on their day, so we launched Flowerlab in 2020 to fullfill that need in the market. The Flower Lab is a budget-friendly way for couples to have beautiful, professionally designed flowers for their wedding day. It’s the perfect alternative to DIY wedding flowers, with our curated packages allow clients to select the color, style, and exact quantities they need from the comfort of their couch.
We created these collections to feature the most popular wedding color palettes and styles to fit any aesthetic.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Launching in 2020 was a major hurdle with the Covid shut down. It did take us a little longer to get our messaging out and really have clients understand what we offer.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about The Flower Lab?
The Flower Lab makes it easy—and actually affordable—for STL couples to slay their wedding flowers from the comfort of their browser. Born in 2020 as a digital-first alternative to high-end floral designs, The Flower Lab bridges the gap between “luxury floral design” and “budget-friendly reality.”
After 13 years of custom design experience, we realized that many couples need a better way to access trend-forward, fresh arrangements without the custom-design price tag. We’ve translated a decade of industry secrets into pre-designed collections that are inspired by real couples and showcase both timeless and emerging wedding trends. By working directly with flower sources and creating savvy floral recipes we maximize beauty while slashing overhead. With 100% transparent pricing at theflowerlabstl.com, we’re making the “Pinterest wedding” attainable for every STL couple at the click of a button.
We absolutely love the work we do and we are proud to be a digital-first company with a human heart. While our collections live online, there is a dedicated team behind the screen ready to answer questions, coordinate day-of details, and provide expert design insight. We are especially proud of our track record of happy couples—who, despite our growing reputation, are always delighted by just how breathtaking their flowers look in person.
What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
What I Love Best About Saint Louis
The Unbeatable Sports Culture I am a Saint Louis girlie through and through, and that means my calendar is dictated by the seasons—specifically, sports seasons! You’ll regularly find me at Enterprise Center cheering on the Blues through the winter, and as soon as the weather breaks, I’m at Busch Stadium for the Cardinals. While I haven’t gotten to see them play, I’m always tracking STL CITY SC stats on my phone—I am dying to get to a match at CITYPARK soon!
A Delicious Food Scene While I might not claim the “foodie” title formally, I am a devotee of our local culinary scene. As someone who works in aesthetics, I appreciate how our local restaurateurs create such complete sensory experiences. My “go-to” list is a testament to the talent here:
The Staples: You can frequently find me at Olive & Oak or Robust in Webster Groves.
The Atmosphere: Bowood by Niche and Sqwires have such a distinct soul, and Perennial on Lockwood is my favorite spot to unwind.
Our Architectural & Storytelling History I’ll admit it: I’m a total history nerd. I love regaling my team with the “secret lives” of the venues and neighborhoods we work in. Saint Louis has lived so many lives, and you can see it in the details of our downtown skyline, the diverse neighborhoods and the many architectural styles of our most iconic venues. Every event we do feels like it’s celebrating a small part of the city’s ongoing story.
The Creative Community The sheer talent in this city is world-class. From the visionary planners to the musicians who set the mood, I am constantly inspired by my fellow vendors. There is a “Midwest nice” collaborative spirit here that makes the high-pressure world of events feel like a true community.
What I Like Least About Our City
The “Best Kept Secret” Syndrome If I had to pick one thing, it’s that we sometimes suffer from being a “best-kept secret.” I wish the rest of the world saw Saint Louis the way we locals do! We have world-class institutions, a booming creative economy, and a rich culture that deserves even more national spotlight.
The Connectivity Gap From a professional standpoint, I’d love to see more continued investment in our infrastructure to bridge our amazing neighborhoods. Our “patchwork” of gems—from the Central West End to Lafayette Square to Webster Groves—are all so incredible; I’m always rooting for more ways to make our city feel more connected.
