Check Out Carlos Gallegos’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Carlos Gallegos.

Carlos, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I’m a transplant from Los Angeles, living in St. Louis for the past 10 years, and I’m a stylist with over 20 years of experience. Since I was about 13, I knew I wanted to work with creatives. Growing up in L.A. in the 90s, I was influenced by music artists of my youth who were always experimenting with thier image. From Madonna to Marilyn Manson, I loved how they created entire worlds through hair makeup and wardrobe.

I trained with Toni&Guy in Newport Beach and worked all around beginning in Newport Beach, then following other opportunities working with other salons and artist in Pasadena, Los Angeles, Hollywood and everywhere in between. I’ve spent my career both behind the chair and doing bridal and editorial styling.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It definitely wasn’t a smooth road, especially early on. One of my biggest challenges was kinda like a double-edged sword. When I first started out there were endless opportunities to explore within the industry. Every part of Los Angeles had its own energy, its own clientele, and its own creative lane, and I wanted to experience all of it.

On one hand, that exposure was invaluable. It allowed me to work with different types of clients and creatives and really expand my skill set. On the other hand, it made consistency difficult. When you’re moving around such a massive city, it’s hard to build and maintain a steady clientele. Realistically, no one is following you across town through L.A. traffic.

When I moved to St. Louis, all of that experience really paid off. I didn’t feel like I was starting over. I felt prepared. I came in with a strong foundation, a lot of confidence, and the ability to hit the ground running right away.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
What sets me apart is that wide mix of experience and a very personal approach. I bring a high level of professionalism and polish, but I lead with authenticity, warmth, and trust. At the end of the day, I want my clients and collaborators to feel seen, taken care of, and confident. That connection is what matters most to me.

Is there anything else you’d like to share with our readers?
Honestly, I’m just really grateful. This work still means a lot to me. It’s never just been about hair, it’s about trust, connection, and being part of really meaningful moments in people’s lives. I love what I do, I love the people I get to work with, and I’m excited about what’s still ahead.
