Life & Work with Logan Vaughan of STL

Today we’d like to introduce you to Logan Vaughan.

Hi Logan, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
My story is a lot like many others that develop a career in Hospitality. I never once thought that I would be doing what I am today.
Growing up in a very small town in Iowa, my career goal was to be in Law Enforcement. However, like most kids in college, I needed a job and my sister happened to be a Catering Sales Manager at a small hotel in Moline, IL. She got me a job as a Banquet Setup/Server. As they say, the rest is history. I quickly found a passion for working in the fast paced and unique environment of hotels. From there, I was able to rise through the ranks in different positions within the Food/Beverage or Events Departments. In 2019, my wife and I moved to St. Louis. My time here in STL has offered me the chance to work at some amazing venues including the St. Louis Science Center, Ritz-Carlton St. Louis, Hilton Ballpark and St. Louis Union Station.

I started with the Angad Arts Hotel in December 2025, and it has been such an amazing experience. As the Senior Sales Manager, it is my privilege to be able to interact with so many talented people on a daily basis and to see what an amazing Arts Community that STL has to offer.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Nothing is ever smooth. I definitely had my doubts about staying in hotels and like most people you find yourself questioning whether this is the best thing for you.

Hospitality is completely unforgiving. Every hotel is open 24/7 365 days a year, which means there is a good chance that you will miss birthdays, holidays, etc. On top of that, you work long hours especially in Wedding season. I know personally that I worked five straight Thanksgivings, Easters and Mothers’ Days. This obviously puts a strain on your personal life and family. When you are young, you think that missing family moments isn’t that big of a deal, but as you age you realize that those times are so precious.

It is so important to be able balance work/life balance!

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
My current position is Senior Sales Manager. I love being on the Sales side of things and being able to talk to so many unique people. I have been fortunate to have experience in all different markets like corporate, social, SMERF, but I tend to lean towards the corporate sector as my specialty.

I strive daily to be as responsive and compassionate as possible. In todays world where everything is automated or AI driven, I find that much of my success comes from simply answering the phone or quickly responding to an email. It shows initiative but also helps to build trust with the client that this is someone who they can rely on.

What sets me apart from others in the Hotel Sales industry is that I have an extensive background in Event Operations. That experience gives me an upper hand when talking to clients about their event as I know first hand what it takes from the Hotel’s perspective to execute it. I feel a responsibility to always ensure that the event will not only be successful for the client, but also the hotel.

I am very proud of all of the events that I have sold or executed. Each one takes time, effort and care.

We love surprises, fun facts and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
I am a huge nerd! I love movies, video games and shows. Honestly, outside of work, I am very introverted compared to myself at work. My social battery gets used up throughout the day, so when I get home, I love to just relax with my family.
