Rising Stars: Meet Kameko Leòn Walls Jr of North Carolina

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kameko Leòn Walls Jr.

Hi Kameko Leòn, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I started this brand in 2017 out the trunk of my car. I didn’t know anything about clothing. I just knew I wanted to make a change in my life. 2019 I opened my first store and it was all going good until 2022 I walked in my store and it was all flooded. I was depressed. I quit the clothing industry. I did not want anything to do with the brand and I took a break for three years. After three years, I came back to the brand in 2025 and through God‘s good Grace. We have been doing pretty good since . Recently I purchased a store downtown in my home town and now we’re just trying to continue to push the needle forward.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I personally feel like I’ve been through everything you could go through as a brand owner from failed collections to bad manufacturers and the worst thing ever was my store flooded and me having to start all the way over, back out the trunk of my car again. And my personal life I’ve had to work dead in jobs that I knew I did not like. Also, I got kicked out of college. I have plenty of reasons to give up, but I never will!!

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
We specialize in community building. Through my brand I’ve created a unique way of making everyone feel like they’re a part of our success. I’m most proud of the perseverance I’ve shown throughout the years, never giving up when times got hard. I think that’s a difference maker and what sets me apart is simply being who I am no matter what this situation, never conforming and believing in what I’m doing.

Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out?
My advice to anyone starting out is to understand that the game is going to test you and how you respond to the test is what’s going to determine your success.
If you are a new brand owner, I would always recommend researching the clothing industry before you enter it. Also make sure your brand has a story.
