Today we’d like to introduce you to Donisha McDuffie.
Hi Donisha, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’m originally from Venice Illinois. After serving in the US Navy, I moved to Fort Lauderdale FL where I went to Keiser University to obtain my associate’s degree in Occupational Therapy Assistant in 2019 and my Bachelor’s in Health Science in 2021. I have a passion for the work that I do. I have been a Licensed Therapist since 2019. I’ve always had dreams of opening my own clinic. My joy stems in helping others overcome limitations holding them back from living their life to the fullest. Due to shortcomings from Injuries, diseases and impairments. Making positive impacts in peoples lives are what drives me to remain and grow within the Therapy field, I don’t look at my clients as a dollar sign or just a job that needs to be done. I see them as mothers, fathers, brothers, sisters & contributors within our community. When I come to work it seems as if I’m not even working. I love doing what I do, so to me it feels like a hobby more than a career. Giving back to society and helping others give me purpose. I couldn’t have chosen a better career field to be proudly apart of.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Getting caught up in the daily routine of “work”. It seems as if my entrepreneurial dreams of opening my own clinic was far into the future. So the road hasn’t been as smooth as it could have been. Starting out as a single employee in your own business can seem overwhelming at times. I wear many hats outside of being a treating Therapist. Such as being the head of many departments like Human Resources,Marketing, recruitment, reception ,IT & maintenance. Alongside other responsibilities needed for the operations to continue. While it hasn’t been the smoothest road. We are growing, and our future is looking bright.!

At Terrific Therapy & Care we offer Occupational and Physical Therapy services. We help people who suffer from disabilities and impairment due to disease and or injury. We specialize in balance deficits, neurological disorders such as Parkinson’s disease, post stroke rehabilitation, Dementia training, hand injury recovery and pain management to name a few. We take pride in helping patients remain as independent as possible to improve their quality of life.
What would you say have been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
The most important lesson I’ve learned is that we all need help sometimes. Remaining humble and compassionate can go a long way, When someone is possibly going through the hardest challenge they have ever had to face. Care and compassion goes a long way. Treat others as you want to be treated and be there to assist whether it’s asked for or not. Sometimes people are so used to being strong, that at their weakest moments they won’t reach out for assistance. Be the person that makes a positive impact when it is most important.
