Check Out Candace Brown’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Candace Brown.

Hi Candace, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I started to be interested in the hair industry when I was in community college taking my general classes. Once I started changing my hair and dilly dallying in makeup my mom stated that I should go to beauty school and I agreed; then my mom signed me up to attend Elaine Steven’s beauty school.

While working a full time job and attending school. I completed my 1500 hours sooner than expected.

After completing my hours I found a new job in my industry at Blo Blow Dry Bar. I worked there for about 3 years then branched off into my own business creating my LLC, getting a business account and found my salon home to start my new journey.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
At the beginning of my journey it started off as a smooth ride until I decided to mix business with personal then things became a little rocky. Even though I was told to never mix business with personal I did it anyways and I had to learn for myself. Now I can say things are going even better I learned my lesson and refuse to do it again.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’m comfortable with styling variety textures of hair. Being a natural hair stylist is what I specialize in, I’m known for giving beautiful blow outs/silk presses.
When a guest/client gives me compliments on how I serviced them with good energy, good vibes, and the tlc their hair needs that warms my heart.
Nowadays there’s a good percentage of hairstylist who doesn’t offer a shampoo and blow dry that’s included with every one of my services. I always wanted to be that one stop shop or as I like to call it the new old school stylist. I’m adding more to my service list, but here’s a few I’m offering now
• blow outs/silk presses
• loc retwist, detox
• sew ins
• quickweaves
• crochet styles
• 2 feed ins
• ponytails
• natural styles
Coming soon
• k-tips
• more braid styles with hair added

We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
Success to me is staying booked and busy Monday thru Saturday working out my own building with name on the top of the building.
