Rising Stars: Meet Christopher J. Foxworth of St Louis

Today we’d like to introduce you to Christopher J. Foxworth.

Christopher J., we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
If you had told me years ago that I’d be interviewing community leaders for STL TV while building a career as an actor, I’m not sure I would have believed you. Looking back now, though, I realize every setback, every “no,” and every unexpected turn helped shape the story I’m living today.

I’ve always believed that everyone has a story worth telling. I just never imagined I’d have the opportunity to tell so many of them while writing one of my own.

My journey into entertainment and media has always been driven by one passion: telling stories that inspire, connect, and leave a lasting impact.

Growing up in East St. Louis, Illinois, I always knew I wanted to do something that allowed me to connect with people. Whether it was through acting, hosting, or simply making someone smile, I realized early on that storytelling has the power to bring people together. That passion led me to pursue acting, where I’ve had the privilege of working alongside incredibly talented directors, producers, and fellow actors on projects that have challenged me to grow both professionally and personally.

Along the way, I discovered another passion broadcast media. Today, I have the honor of working with STL TV as a host and reporter, covering community events, interviewing inspiring individuals, and highlighting the people and organizations making a difference throughout the St. Louis region. Every interview reminds me that behind every face is a story waiting to be heard, and it’s a responsibility I never take for granted to help share those stories with the community.

“At the end of the day, I don’t just want people to remember the roles I’ve played or the interviews I’ve conducted I want them to remember how I made them feel and the stories that inspired them to believe in themselves.”

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
My journey didn’t come with shortcuts or overnight success. There were moments when doors closed, opportunities fell through, and I questioned whether I was good enough. But instead of letting those moments define me, I chose to let them develop me. Every rejection became motivation. Every challenge became preparation. I learned that purpose often grows in the places where perseverance is tested.

Acting gave me a voice. It taught me empathy, discipline, and the ability to step into someone else’s shoes. Every role reminds me that stories have the power to heal, inspire, and bring people together. As my acting career grew, another incredible opportunity opened its doors working as a host and reporter for STL TV.

Today, I have the privilege of standing behind the microphone and in front of the camera, highlighting the people who make St. Louis special. From community events and nonprofit organizations to athletes, artists, entrepreneurs, and everyday heroes, I’ve discovered that some of the most powerful stories aren’t found in Hollywood they’re found right here in our neighborhoods.

One thing I’ve learned is that success isn’t about becoming famous. It’s about becoming impactful. If someone watches one of my interviews, sees one of my performances, or hears my story and decides not to give up on their own dream, then I’ve already succeeded.

I’m still writing my story, and that’s what excites me most. My vision is bigger than acting or television. I want to become a nationally recognized storyteller, using every platform I’m blessed with to inspire, uplift, and remind people that where you start doesn’t determine where you can go.

If my journey proves anything, it’s this: your dreams don’t have an expiration date. Keep showing up. Keep believing when no one else does. Stay humble, trust God’s timing, and never stop betting on yourself.

Because sometimes the life you’ve been praying for begins the moment you refuse to quit.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I work at the intersection of storytelling and community connection as both an actor and a host/reporter for STL TV.

As an actor, I specialize in bringing characters to life in a way that feels real, emotional, and relatable. I’ve been fortunate to work on film projects with talented directors and creatives where I’ve been challenged to step outside of myself, grow in my craft, and learn how powerful storytelling can be when it reflects real human experiences.

On the broadcast side, I work as a host and reporter for STL TV, where I cover community events, conduct interviews, and highlight the people and organizations making a difference across the St. Louis region. Whether I’m on a red carpet, at a local event, or speaking with everyday people doing extraordinary things, my goal is always the same to make people feel seen and heard.

What I’m most proud of is being able to bridge both worlds. Acting allows me to tell stories through characters, while media allows me to tell real stories happening in real time within my community. That balance has shaped me into a more grounded and versatile storyteller.

What sets me apart is my perspective and purpose. Coming from East St. Louis, I understand the importance of representation and giving people a platform who may not always get one. I don’t just show up to interview people or perform a role I show up with intention. I focus on connection, authenticity, and making sure every story I’m part of carries meaning.

At the core of everything I do is one mission: to inspire, uplift, and remind people that their story matters.

How do you think about luck?
Luck has played a role in my journey, but I’ve come to believe that preparation and purpose are what truly turn moments into opportunities.

There have definitely been times where I’ve experienced what people would call “good luck” being in the right place at the right time, meeting the right people, or stepping into opportunities that opened doors I didn’t even know existed. Working in both acting and broadcast media with STL TV didn’t happen by accident. Those moments came from showing up consistently, staying ready, and being willing to say yes when opportunities presented themselves.

But I’d also be honest in saying that there have been moments that felt like “bad luck” at the time rejections in acting, missed opportunities, or situations that didn’t go the way I expected. In the moment, those experiences can feel discouraging. However, looking back, I see that those same moments built my discipline, my patience, and my resilience. They pushed me to sharpen my craft and stay focused even when things didn’t immediately align.

What I’ve learned is that luck alone doesn’t sustain you in this industry or in life. Preparation meets opportunity, and that’s where real growth happens. I’ve been intentional about staying ready whether that’s improving my acting skills, developing my voice as a host, or learning how to connect with people in a meaningful way on camera.

At this stage in my journey, I don’t rely on luck as much as I rely on faith, consistency, and purpose. I believe every experience good or bad has been part of positioning me for where I am today and where I’m headed next.

So while luck may open a door, it’s what you do after that moment that defines your path. And I plan to keep making the most of every opportunity that comes my way.
