Today we’d like to introduce you to Khandace Young.
Hi Khandace, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My story has always been about embracing opportunities, continually learning, and refusing to limit myself to just one path. I was raised in a loving two-parent household where faith, education, integrity, and hard work were foundational values. I began my education in parochial school before transitioning to public school, experiences that helped shape my adaptability and appreciation for people from all walks of life.
From an early age, I developed a passion for beauty, fashion, and connecting with others. That passion led me into modeling, pageants, beauty competitions, runway shows, print work, commercials, and television appearances. I also spent years as an on-air radio personality, which allowed me to engage with the community, interview guests, and develop strong communication and public speaking skills.
Throughout my career, I’ve intentionally built diverse experiences rather than following a single lane. I’ve worked in hospitality, recruiting, staffing, financial services, promotional marketing, brand management, event coordination, and corporate leadership. I’ve served as a brand ambassador, promotions coordinator, promotions manager, recruiter, trainer, and leader for nationally recognized brands, helping execute marketing campaigns, lead promotional teams, and create memorable customer experiences. Those opportunities taught me how to build relationships, lead people, think strategically, and represent brands with professionalism and authenticity.
Today, my primary career is in automotive manufacturing management, where I lead teams, improve operations, and focus on developing people while delivering results in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
In addition to my corporate career, I’m passionate about entrepreneurship. I’m a licensed life insurance agent in Missouri and Alabama, helping individuals and families protect their financial futures through thoughtful planning. I’m also the owner of Sabbatical Getaways, my travel business, where I help clients create unforgettable travel experiences while encouraging them to make time for rest, adventure, and meaningful memories.
Education has always been one of my priorities. I earned both my Bachelor of Science in Management and my Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Phoenix. Those degrees have strengthened my leadership abilities, business acumen, and commitment to lifelong learning.
Beyond my professional accomplishments, I enjoy giving back through networking, mentoring, volunteering, and creating opportunities for others. I believe that success isn’t just measured by titles or income—it’s measured by the lives you impact and the relationships you build along the way.
Looking back, every chapter of my journey—from modeling and radio to financial services, promotions, entrepreneurship, and corporate management—has prepared me for where I am today. I’m proud to be a multifaceted professional who isn’t afraid to reinvent herself, pursue new opportunities, and inspire others to dream bigger. My goal has always been to make a meaningful impact, whether I’m leading a team, helping a family secure their future, planning someone’s dream vacation, coordinating community events, or simply encouraging others to believe in what’s possible.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
No, it definitely hasn’t been a smooth road, but I truly believe that every challenge has helped shape the woman I am today. Through it all, my faith in God has been my anchor. Believing that He has a purpose for my life has given me the strength to keep moving forward, even when I couldn’t see what was ahead.
Like many people, I’ve experienced both incredible highs and some very difficult lows. I’ve navigated personal and professional betrayals, faced disappointments, and encountered situations where I felt overlooked despite my qualifications and work ethic. Those experiences weren’t easy, but they taught me resilience, discernment, and the importance of trusting God’s timing while believing in myself, even when others didn’t.
One of the greatest challenges has been grief. Losing significant people in my life has been heartbreaking, but instead of allowing those losses to stop me, I used them as motivation. Earning my Bachelor of Science in Management and my MBA became more than personal achievements—they became tributes to the loved ones I lost. Completing those degrees reminded me that even in the midst of pain, God can bring purpose out of our struggles and that perseverance is always worthwhile.
I’ve also learned that career advancement isn’t always based solely on talent or hard work. There have been times when it was difficult to grow within certain organizations despite consistently delivering results. Rather than allowing those experiences to define me, they encouraged me to invest even more in entrepreneurship. Building my own businesses has given me the freedom to create opportunities, expand my impact, and take ownership of my future instead of waiting for someone else to open a door.
Through every setback and every victory, my faith has remained at the center of my journey. I believe that what God has for me is for me, and that no obstacle, rejection, or delay can interfere with His plans. I’ve stayed committed to continuous learning, trusted the process, and refused to let life’s challenges harden my heart or diminish my purpose.
Today, I don’t see my struggles as barriers—I see them as the foundation that prepared me to lead, serve, inspire others, and encourage people to keep believing, even when the road is difficult. Every obstacle has strengthened my character, every setback has deepened my faith, and every accomplishment is a reminder that with God, perseverance, and determination, anything is possible.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Throughout my career, I have built a reputation for leading with integrity, building strong relationships, and creating positive change wherever I serve. I currently work in manufacturing leadership, where I oversee daily operations, lead cross-functional teams, and focus on safety, quality, productivity, and employee engagement. Prior to this role, I built extensive experience in financial services, customer relationship management, operations, and leadership development.
I specialize in people leadership, operational excellence, project coordination, and relationship building. Whether I’m leading a team, coordinating a large-scale community event, mentoring others, or collaborating with stakeholders, I enjoy bringing people together to achieve meaningful results. I am also passionate about networking and community engagement, believing that authentic relationships often create opportunities that benefit everyone involved.
One of the accomplishments I am most proud of is earning both my Bachelor of Science in Management and my MBA while working full-time. Those achievements represent perseverance, resilience, and my commitment to lifelong learning. I have also been recognized multiple times for my leadership, safety contributions, and dedication to fostering an inclusive workplace.
What sets me apart is my ability to connect with people from all backgrounds while maintaining a high standard of professionalism. I lead with empathy, communicate effectively, and genuinely care about helping others succeed. My faith in God has been a guiding force throughout my journey, giving me the strength to overcome challenges and remain focused on serving others with purpose. I strive to leave every team, organization, and community stronger than I found it, and I measure success not only by results, but by the positive impact I have on the people around me.
What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
The quality that has been most important to my success is resilience, supported by consistency and a strong sense of purpose.
My career and personal journey have included both achievements and significant challenges—professional setbacks, personal loss, and times where I had to keep moving forward without clear answers. What has made the difference is my ability to stay grounded, adapt, and continue showing up with focus even when circumstances were difficult. I don’t allow setbacks to define my direction; instead, I use them as fuel to grow, learn, and reset my path when needed.
Closely tied to resilience is my commitment to people and relationships. I’ve learned that success is rarely individual—it comes from collaboration, trust, and the ability to lead with empathy while still driving results. Whether I’m guiding a team, coordinating initiatives, or building connections through networking and community involvement, I focus on creating value for others, not just personal advancement.
Faith also plays a central role in my consistency and mindset. It keeps me grounded, gives me perspective during challenges, and reinforces my belief that every season has purpose, even when it is difficult.
Ultimately, resilience allows me to keep going, empathy allows me to lead effectively, and faith keeps me aligned. Together, those qualities have shaped both my career progress and the way I approach every opportunity.
