Rising Stars: Meet Rahman Ali of St Louis

Today we’d like to introduce you to Rahman Ali.

Hi Rahman, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I started acting in high school as a sophomore. I really wanted to try something different, so I got involved with the theatre department. So I did theatre for about four years and I kind of wanted to do something different, so I branched off into film and on camera acting. I’ve done student films, short films, commercial ads, and a feature film. I also do a little bit of modeling on the side as well. I even did my first fashion runway show last year in September for the Baltimore Met Gala.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
As an actor, there’s never really a “smooth road”. But I feel my situation was a little difficult. As an actor, you have to travel a lot you know to be on set, as someone who’s taking of their younger siblings as parental figure, it’s been hard trying to maintain maintain as a working actor. Be between auditions, shoots, school Schedules, and extra curricular activities things can get a little hectic.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m an actor who specializes in acting. I wouldn’t really say I’m “known” yet but I’m most proud of myself for giving my all to every audition and every film that I’ve been apart of. What sends me a part is my drive. I just know me personally I don’t see myself doing anything else and acting is something that’s never gonna leave my heart.

What were you like growing up?
Growing up as a kid basketball was my life. And I still hoop and enjoy it till this day. I feel like I was a pretty active kid. I was always outside doing something like riding a bike, hanging with friends, and watching a lot of movies.
