Daily Inspiration: Meet BIG Charooo

Today we’d like to introduce you to BIG Charooo.

Hi BIG, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
My name is BIG Charooo, an independent hip-hop artist from East Saint Louis, Illinois. I started making music to tell my story and inspire others through real-life experiences. My journey has been filled with challenges, but through it all, God has given me the strength to keep pushing forward. Staying independent, learning to record, mix, and master my own music, and remaining true to myself has helped me grow both as an artist and as a person. The BIG Charooo lifestyle is built on faith, resilience, hard work, and representing my city with pride, and my mission is to inspire others while giving God all the glory for bringing me this far.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. I’ve faced financial struggles, personal setbacks, injuries, and times when I questioned whether to keep going. Being an independent artist means investing in yourself, wearing multiple hats, and staying motivated even when no one is watching. There were moments when life tested me, but through every obstacle, God gave me the strength to keep moving forward. Those struggles didn’t stop me—they built my character, strengthened my faith, and gave me the real-life experiences that inspire the music I create today.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m an independent hip-hop artist, songwriter, and audio engineer from East Saint Louis. I specialize in creating authentic music that reflects real life—whether it’s pain, perseverance, faith, motivation, or celebrating success. I also record, mix, and master my own music, allowing me to stay creative and independent while maintaining full control over my sound.

What I’m most proud of is building my career from the ground up and refusing to give up through every obstacle. My faith in God has kept me moving forward, and every challenge has made me stronger.

What sets me apart is my authenticity. I don’t create music to follow trends—I create music that tells my story and connects with people on a deeper level. I represent my city with pride, stay true to myself, and strive to inspire others by showing that with faith, consistency, and hard work, anything is possible.

If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
Growing up, I was always a creative and observant person. I didn’t always express myself easily, but I had a strong imagination and a deep interest in music and storytelling. I spent a lot of time listening to different sounds, watching how people move, and learning from real-life situations around me.

Personality-wise, I was quiet at times but very focused and determined. When I became interested in something, I stuck with it and tried to figure it out fully. Over time, that curiosity turned into passion, especially for music.

As I got older, I started to understand my purpose more clearly. What started as a personal outlet turned into something bigger—something I could use to express my experiences, represent my city, and inspire others who may be going through similar struggles.
