Today we’d like to introduce you to Aviana And The Pure Root.
Hi Aviana And The Pure Root, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I always say that my journey with music started as a young child. My mother saw something in me and really pushed me to sing and perform at any opportunity she came across. I suffered from pretty low self-esteem as a child, so I completely abandoned the concept of me being a performer when I got old enough to demand my mother stop forcing me to do it lol. It wasn’t until I finished grad school at NYU in 2014 that I had this random epiphany to pursue music again. It literally came out of nowhere. I finished school and went backpacking in Europe for months, started randomly singing in Paris lounges and open mics. When I returned to the states, I came back to my hometown of St. Louis and just continued doing open mics around town and then started learning guitar with a coworker at the time. I started writing and came out with my first single “Good Morning, Come Noon” in 2018. When I moved to LA in 2019 I finally started to form the band that I had always dreamed of. I’ve been performing and putting out music ever since. My goal is to start doing these bigger summer music festivals and to really take my music production to the next level with releasing my first full length album sometime next year. I want to tour the world performing and make a massive impact. I want to take it as far as I can and eventually work with other highly influential artists and producers in the music industry.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
This has certainly not been a smooth road at all. I have had a number of life ups and downs along the way that have made the road quite bumpy to be honest. Taking care of my mother as her caregiver for some years after her stroke and then losing her in November 2021 was the hugest shakeup to my whole life in general. And self-doubt-I’ve struggled with self-doubt a lot throughout my journey. I have to constantly remind or be reminded of who I am along the way. It can be a fight to own and believe in my light at times, but I keep going. That’s the key-you just gotta keep going. And then breaking down those doors, meeting the right people who are gonna help take your career to the next level; You can’t do this alone and you really gotta have support. I think that’s what I’ve been missing is having the right support and team to elevate my career.

I am a singer/songwriter, a guitar player, producer, actress and an entrepreneur. I own the wellness brand Live While Living, by Aviana. I’m most proud of the fact that I never give up. I love that I’m a creative person, that has been blessed with a large vision and big ideas. I feel so lucky to have been blessed in this way. I think just my aura sets me apart from others. I’m just a different kind of girl.
