Today we’d like to introduce you to Raven Whitten.
Hi Raven, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
My name is Raven, and I am the owner of Bougie Bevs. My journey started with a simple idea between my 7-year-old daughter, Lo’gan, and me. At the time, I was a baker participating in vendor events, and Lo’gan had the idea that we should add drinks to our setup. That small suggestion sparked something bigger than we imagined.
What began as a way to complement my baked goods evolved into Bougie Bevs—a brand focused on creating fun, refreshing, and elevated drinks that bring people together. We reimagined the concept with fresh flavors, a unique twist, and a stylish, ‘bougie’ experience.
Through local markets, community events, and the support of family, friends, and customers, Bougie Bevs has continued to grow. Today, it represents more than just drinks—it’s a reminder that big dreams can start from the smallest ideas, a mother-and-daughter journey built from creativity, faith, and taking a chance on something new.
I’m excited to continue growing the brand and sharing our passion with the community, one bougie sip at a time.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
No, it has not been a completely smooth road, but every challenge has been a lesson. Starting Bougie Bevs was a brand-new journey for me. I went from being a baker to learning an entirely different side of business—from creating drink recipes and branding to finding vendor opportunities, marketing myself, and understanding what customers enjoy.
One of the biggest struggles was stepping out on faith and starting something new without having all the answers. There were moments of trial and error, investing time and money into the business, and figuring out what worked best. Balancing entrepreneurship, motherhood, and everyday life also came with its own challenges.
However, those obstacles have made the journey even more rewarding. Seeing my daughter Lo’gan’s idea grow into a real business, connecting with my community, and watching people enjoy our drinks reminds me why I started. Every event, every customer, and every lesson has helped shape Bougie Bevs into what it is today, and I’m excited for what’s ahead.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Bougie Bevs ?
Bougie Bevs is more than just a drink business—it’s an experience. We specialize in handcrafted, fresh, flavorful beverages that add a fun and luxurious twist to traditional drinks. From our signature lemonades to our creative dirty sodas, every drink is made with attention to quality, presentation, and a little bit of “bougie” flair.
What sets Bougie Bevs apart is our ability to turn a simple drink into something memorable. Our brand is feminine, fun, and stylish, with a focus on creating an elevated experience for every customer. We believe everyone deserves a little luxury in their day, and our goal is to deliver that one sip at a time.
What I’m most proud of is building a brand that truly represents creativity, family, and community. The fact that Bougie Bevs was inspired by an idea from my daughter Lo’gan makes it even more special—it’s a reminder that big dreams can come from the smallest moments.
I want people to know that when they support Bougie Bevs, they are supporting a mother-daughter dream built with passion, resilience, and love. We are committed to continuing to bring unique flavors, beautiful presentation, and positive energy to every market, event, and community we serve.
What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
What I love most about St. Louis is the sense of community and the support for small businesses. There are so many amazing local markets, events, and organizations that create opportunities for entrepreneurs like me to share our passions and connect with people. I also love the diversity of our city—the different cultures, neighborhoods, and people are what make St. Louis so unique and inspiring.
What I like least is that sometimes it can be challenging for small businesses to gain visibility and access to resources, especially when you’re just starting out. It takes a lot of networking, consistency, and community support to get your name out there. However, I also see that as motivation to continue growing, building relationships, and creating a space for Bougie Bevs in the St. Louis community.
