Hidden Gems: Meet Lo Goris of Lashes By Lo

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lo Goris.

Hi Lo, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
10 years ago I chose to start my life over. I called off my wedding 5 days before I was supposed to get married and my son and I walked away from an extremely abusive and chaotic life.

I knew we deserved more. Once my son was old enough to start kindergarten I made the investment and betted on myself. I enrolled at n Esthetics school in October 2018. My life has TRULY changed for the better since then!

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Right out of Esthetics school I was immediately was offered a job in a commission salon! I was so beyond excited! I was a single mom and my goal at that point was to get a job, provided for my son and I, and learn as much as possible! I was able to work with some of my very best friends!

Unfortunately over time (almost 3 years) I felt like the salon environment I was working in was not a good fit for me. My ethics were constantly being challenged by and I was being put in situations that made myself and the women I was services uncomfortable.

I am someone who truly cannot be unhappy or miserable for extended periods of time so I KNEW something had to change. So I bet on myself again. But this time I was in charge of my own career and happiness!

My girlfriend Bailey and I ended up taking the leap and going out on our own and sharing a space together!

My sister in law Sarah Goris is a professional photographer and at the time had been looking for studio
Space for her business. She ended up looking at a space in Flint Hill/Wentzville but it was a great fit for her. HOWEVER, Sarah immediately called me after looking at the space and said “Lo this place is perfect, if you can, could you come after work to check it out?!” .

So that night myself and Bailey drove to see the space and met with the landlord and the rest was history. We needed up signing our lease 3 days later to make it official.

We’ve been impressed with Lashes By Lo, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I’m a licensed esthetician and lash tech of 8 years. I specialize in lash, brow and skin services! I would say I’m known for my lash lift and tints (my favorite service to perform) as well as lash extensions and my dermaplane facial!!

With my business, I don’t really focus on setting myself apart. If anything I just want to lean into who I am as a person and how I can translate that into a relaxing experience for my clients. Creating a space to unwind and to be themselves

In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
In 5-10 years I hope to be doing exactly what I’m doing now, just maybe on a grander scale. I have two teenagers right now and once they are both off to College I’ll be able to navigate my business in a different way! Right now time with my kids is my highest form of currency and I’m truly grateful my career allows me that flexibility
