Today we’d like to introduce you to Petar Knezović.
Hi Petar, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I don’t think that my story or rather the story of Playsupport is really important here. What’s important is the story of the tabletop hobbyists whose problems I’m trying to solve. My story is really just discovering and observing these problems and then trying to offer a solution for them. The problem is psychological. People are overwhelmed with responsibilities, and push their own needs and desires aside for the sake of “important things”. That’s why wargamers end up with piles of unassembled plastic models in their closets that never see a game. The only way for them to participate in the hobby they enjoy is to buy a model. Playsupport wants to offer a better way to participate. Instead of having the hobby devolve into impulse buying, I want people to have an army of actually completed and painted models they’ve always wanted. I have witnessed first hand how people who haven’t been able to find time for a game in years have begun to show up and play regularly, because they are incredibly proud with what they have and want to show off to everyone. What I’m really doing is boosting a healthy instinct to have fun and focus on what you enjoy and what keeps you going.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Although unexpected things sometimes happen, and cause delays and unplanned costs, those kinds of problems should be looked at as opportunities. They become a way to show the people you do work for that their needs will be taken care of regardless of what happens, and that’s really the thing people are looking for above all else. There are countless miniature painting services out there that are excellent at painting, but what people are really looking for is reliability and confidence that their precious models will be taken care of and returned to them in pristine condition regardless of any kind of unpredictable issues that may come up. Solving these is what creates a real relationship and loyalty.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
In short, I support tabletop wargamers, mostly warhammer players, by painting their models. This is the biggest part of the job, but it can also include thing like cleaning old, poorly painted models, assembly, basing and magnetising. I can also help people by 3d printing their models, and getting their files ready for printing by 3d supporting them. This I do either for private individuals, or companies, kickstarter and patreon creators that release miniature files for 3d printing on a regular basis. Other than decades of painting experience, what sets me appart is really just the willingness to solve uforseen issues that may arise. Once a project is started, it will be delivered as promised, even if it has to be done at a loss for me.
We’d love to hear about how you think about risk taking?
Luckily, this business doesn’t contain a lot of risk. A mere 1000$ is all the investment you need, if you’re willing to sacrifice a bit of space in your house to get started, so I don’t really think I’m in a position to lecture anyone about risk.
