Today we’d like to introduce you to Jasmine.
Jasmine, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
My journey in the beauty industry began over 10 years ago in Atlanta. I had recently graduated from Central Missouri State University with a degree in Child and Family Development, and I started my career as a Pre-K teacher. I always loved working with children, but makeup had been my hustle throughout college, and it naturally followed me into my career. I was the teacher who would come to work with a full face of makeup, and eventually the other teachers started asking me to do their makeup. That was when I started realizing there was something more there for me.
After about a year of teaching, I realized that although I loved working with my students, my passion was really in making people feel confident. I didn’t know exactly what that would turn into at the time, but I knew I needed to explore it. I started educating myself more, working for a major beauty brand, working in a salon suite, and really studying and perfecting my craft.
My first business was a strip lash line called Eyessoroyal, which I started around 2016 or 2017. In 2018, I became professionally trained in lash extensions, and I practiced every single day. Over time, I realized I loved doing lashes even more than makeup. Being behind the lash chair also gave me the opportunity to connect with women on a much deeper level. The conversations became personal, and I found myself hearing about their lives, their struggles, their goals, and what they were trying to build or rebuild.
In 2019, I started my second business, Dion J Beauty. Dion J comes from my middle name, shortened with the “J” added to the end, and it is also my daughter Sevyn’s middle name. I started Dion J Beauty with a strip lash line that eventually expanded into a cosmetic line. From there, I continued building my experience in the beauty industry through lash services, pop-up experiences, teaching, and working between Atlanta, Kansas City, and St. Louis.
In 2023, I moved back home to St. Louis, Missouri, and continued building my vision. In October 2025, I opened Sevyn Beauty, which is named after my daughter, Sevyn. The name is personal because she is such a big part of why I continue to build and why creating a legacy is important to me.
What started as me simply pursuing my passion for beauty has grown into something much bigger. Today, Sevyn Beauty has evolved into Sevyn Beauty Luxury Suites, where my vision is to create a space where beauty professionals can build their own businesses while also having access to community, support, and an environment that encourages them to grow.
I’m still building, still learning, and still evolving, but everything I’ve done up to this point has played a part in getting me here.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
No, the journey has not been a smooth road. Building Sevyn Beauty has required a level of sacrifice, resilience, and faith that I don’t think I fully understood when I started.
One of my biggest challenges has been learning how to build a business while balancing motherhood, personal loss, and the many responsibilities that come with entrepreneurship. While building this vision, I experienced the loss of two close family members, and navigating grief while still showing up as a leader, business owner, and mother was one of the hardest seasons of my journey.
At the same time, I was raising my five-year-old daughter and working to create a better future for her. There were many seasons where I was doing everything myself, providing services during the day, handling the physical labor of building the business, caring for my daughter in the evenings, and spending late nights working on marketing, emails, planning, strategy, and the behind-the-scenes work that people don’t always see.
There were many nights with little to no sleep, moments of uncertainty, and times when I had to push forward even when I was exhausted. I had to learn every part of entrepreneurship — not only being a beauty professional, but becoming a business owner, a leader, and someone responsible for creating opportunities for others.
Those challenges have shaped the heart behind Sevyn Beauty. They taught me the importance of creating a space where women feel supported, heard, and safe because I understand what it feels like to carry a lot while still trying to build something meaningful.
Through every obstacle, I remained faith-driven and committed to the vision. The challenges did not stop me; they refined me. They gave me the experience, compassion, and strength needed to create the type of community I want Sevyn Beauty Suites to become, a place where women can grow, be mentored, and build their own success with support around them.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
Sevyn Beauty Luxury Suites is more than a place to work in beauty. It’s a space built around purpose, confidence, creativity, community, and faith.
Sevyn Beauty is named after my daughter, Sevyn, who is five years old and the inspiration behind the brand. The number Seven, represents completion, and it also holds a lot of meaning in the Bible. While creating Sevyn Beauty, I was also beginning my own spiritual journey and building a genuine relationship with God. That became a huge part of my life, and naturally, God became the center of this business as well.
Everything about Sevyn Beauty has been intentional. From the people who helped me bring the vision together, to the people who helped design the building, to the vintage home-inspired feel of the space, even down to the colors used throughout the building. There is a meaning behind it all.
Building Sevyn Beauty also happened during a very difficult season of my life. I lost both of my uncles, who were extremely close to me and were like father figures in my life. They were also heavily involved in my previous businesses and were people I could always go to for advice. So building this business without them was very difficult.
At the same time, I was facing battles that I never thought I would have to face, while still trying to be the best mother I could be and build this business. There were a lot of moments where I had to keep going even when I didn’t know how I was going to get through it.
In a lot of ways, it was me and God.
Before creating Sevyn Beauty, I had been behind the lash chair for more than 10 years. Throughout those years, I had the opportunity to talk to so many different women from all over the world. And one thing I noticed was that, no matter where we came from or what we were going through, there was a common denominator: beauty is our power.
I am a true believer in, “look good, feel good, do better.”
Even while going through some of the most challenging things in my own life, I always made sure to take care of myself. I made sure I looked good, because I realized I didn’t have to look like what I was going through. Taking care of myself and feeling good about myself helped me continue to push forward.
I started seeing that same transformation in the women who sat in my chair. I would have women come in feeling guilty for spending money on themselves or taking time to take care of themselves. But after their service and our conversations, I would notice a change. I would see their confidence come back. Their attitude would be different. They would leave feeling better.
That experience became a big part of what I wanted to create with Sevyn Beauty.
I want it to be a safe space where women can come in, take care of themselves, feel good, and remember their power. But I also want it to be a safe space for the entrepreneurs who are building their businesses inside of Sevyn Beauty.
I want to provide the community, love, support, and encouragement that I feel are so important when you’re trying to build something of your own. Based on my own experiences coming up in business, I understand how much it means to have the right environment and people around you. I want to help upcoming entrepreneurs build confidence in themselves and their businesses and get as far as they possibly can with their goals.
Sevyn Beauty Luxury Suites provides an elevated environment for beauty professionals to build and grow their businesses while having access to luxury, privacy, and support. Our suites are designed for professionals in hair, lashes, makeup, brows, wellness, and other beauty services, while also offering select beauty and wellness experiences for clients.
What sets Sevyn Beauty apart is that it was built from real experiences. Everything I’ve been through has shaped the way I see beauty, business, women, and community. I don’t want this to simply be a place where people rent a suite. I want it to be a place where people feel safe, supported, inspired, and encouraged to become the best version of themselves.
And, to continue to be an example, for Sevyn; the CEO of Sevyn Beauty herself. Everything I do is also about being the best example I can be for her and showing her what it looks like to build something with faith, purpose, hard work, and love.
Sevyn Beauty Luxury Suites is so much more than beauty suites. It is a reflection of my faith, my daughter, my journey, the things I’ve overcome, and my desire to create a space where people can feel good, build something meaningful, and know that they have support along the way.
If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
The qualities I believe have been most important to my success are discipline, mindset, and faith in God.
Entrepreneurship requires you to reprogram the way you think. You have to develop the discipline to stay committed to your vision even when the results are not immediate, when things feel uncertain, and when you are faced with challenges. Building a business requires taking risk after risk, and there are many moments where you have to move forward by faith and not by sight.
My faith in God has been the foundation throughout my entire journey. I have learned to trust God through every season, knowing that the vision and purpose behind Sevyn Beauty are bigger than me. Every morning, I pray over my space and invite God’s presence into Sevyn Beauty. I pray that He uses the space, my hands, and every interaction I have with clients, professionals, and anyone who comes through the doors for a greater purpose.
Discipline has allowed me to continue showing up, faith has allowed me to keep believing, and my mindset has allowed me to grow through every challenge. I believe success is not just about talent or having a great idea, it is about having the discipline to execute, the faith to continue when you cannot see the outcome yet, and the willingness to become the person capable of carrying the vision.
Those qualities are what have helped me build Sevyn Beauty and continue working toward creating a space where beauty, community, mentorship, and purpose come together.
