Daily Inspiration: Meet Tish Period

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tish Period.

Hi Tish, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
A little bit about me, is that I was my parents miracle child. Every disease was supposed to take my mother and I out and we both lived to tell the story. I’ve been singing since I could talk. I was a teenage mother at 15 and I faced many obstacles growing up. I loss my mother at the age of 26 when my son was just 5 months old and my father 18 months later. It’s been a struggle but with the help of God, he has kept me. I started singing secular music when my mom passed to help me get by. It’s been a true blessing. I’ve competed on Showtime at the Apollo, I made it to the top 24 on The Voice season 14 and most recently became a viral star when the Iconic TLC Chili and T-Boz crashed my set after hearing us playing their hit number Waterfalls on Sept 25,2025. Since then I’ve been featured on Good Morning America, People, USA.com, Essence and twice on the Emmy winning Tamron Hall show. It’s been up since!

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
I’ve had to figure it out by myself with the help of God. Money was tight, I’ve been overly stressed, I’ve been in bad relationships, loss friends, married and a divorce but thru God’s grace I’m still standing.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am a singer! I sing what I feel and I have the ability to read a room. I’m thankful for the gift of being able to sing both gospel and secular, at any point I know what’s needed. I really believe that’s what sets me apart. Anytime, I get to the mic, you immediately start hearing people yell, “Siiiiing Tish!” I specialize in singing to your spirit and soul. God has given me a connection with music and people that even if it’s not my song, it still feels like it is. I’m blessed to be received by all.

Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
I’m a firm believer in the Lord giveth and he taketh away and I’ve never wanted him to take my voice. So I use it for his glory whether secular or gospel. I believe not having parents to help guide you along the way makes risk taking even harder. You’re already risking that what they taught you will sustain you. Unfortunately, I don’t have that physical encouragement from them. I have to do it myself and believe that what they taught me is that I can do ALL things thru Christ that strengthens me. Anything is possible knowing God is within me. I have to trust God even when I can’t trace him. I believe in faith. I believe whatever Yes is for me, will be and whatever door needs to close that it will be too. There’s nothing to it but to do it! I believe in God and he takes a risk on me everyday!
