Today we’d like to introduce you to Raelynn Cantrall.
Hi Raelynn, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Growing up, my life was anything but normal. I lost my mom when I was 11 years old, and that experience shaped the course of my life in ways I couldn’t have understood at the time. Looking back, much of my childhood is a blur.
Unlike many of my peers, I wasn’t focused on planning a career or mapping out my future. My dad encouraged me to attend cosmetology school because he recognized a talent in me that I hadn’t yet seen in myself. What started as his encouragement quickly became my passion, and I fell in love with the beauty industry. That decision ultimately gave me a career that I genuinely enjoy and am grateful to be a part of.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Starting out in the beauty industry is never easy!! In the beginning, I worked long 12 hour days, including weekends, to build my career. There were countless moments when I questioned whether I had chosen the right path. But no matter how uncertain I felt, I kept showing up for myself. Looking back, those challenges strengthened my work ethic, and laid the foundation for the career & clientele I have today.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a salon owner and licensed cosmetologist. I also work part time in social media content creation, focusing on beauty, travel, and lifestyle videos!
What do you like and dislike about the city?
I genuinely love living in St. Louis. Its central location makes traveling incredibly convenient, and I’ve built an amazing community here. I’m also newly engaged, and my fiancé’s family has welcomed me with open arms, making St. Louis feel even more like home. It’s a place that has given me meaningful relationships.
On the other hand, the winters are brutal and I would love to live somewhere tropical in the future.
