Conversations with Jack Daniel

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jack Daniel.

Hi Jack, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I began writing music when I was 16/17 years old. At the time I was performing in garage-style rock bands and just learning the in’s and out’s of it all.
My dad was a singer/songwriter, so when I had finally decided to pursue solo performing and songwriting, he suggested that I listen to folk writers like John Prine.
As time passed, I began organizing local open mics and songwriter showcases throughout central Illinois- which eventually led to a few bigger gig opportunities.
The entire thing just kinda snowballed from there.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Not at all, but then again, some roads aren’t meant to be.
It feels as if the music scene is filled with variations of the same struggles. As with many artists- I found it difficult at first to find shows, peer support, and the confidence needed to progress as an artist. Self-doubt and overthinking have always been two of my biggest enemies, and I’m grateful to possess just enough resilience to continually keep both at bay.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I believe most, if not all, of these questions can be answered with- songwriting.
I write and perform my own music, I specialize in writing and performing my own music, and I’m known for writing and performing my own music.
I’m proud to write and perform my own music, and I feel the individual journey of writing and performing my own music sets me apart from others.

What was your favorite childhood memory?
When I was six or so, my parents took my sister and I to Six Flags and the Bigfoot Museum in St. Louis. They had separated by then, and it’s the only memory I have of us all doing something as a family.
