Today we’d like to introduce you to Sharday Monroe.
Sharday, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
My wellness journey started with several moments that forced me to be honest with myself. I had grown tired of twisting and posing my body in certain ways to appear smaller in photos. I felt like the “frumpy friend” in the group, avoided trying on clothes, and often had to return items because I had underestimated how much my size had changed.
The biggest wake-up call came during a doctor’s visit when I learned that I was only a few numbers away from being prediabetic. I was allowed to speak with a dietitian about meal planning and portion control, and that helped me understand that improving my health did not have to begin with an extreme diet or an unrealistic routine. It could start with learning how to eat differently, preparing my meals, and becoming more intentional about my daily habits.
Through that process, I lost more than 60 pounds naturally. I learned through trial and error how much our food choices, routines, mindset, and environment affect our health. I also realized that many people are told they are gaining weight or becoming unhealthy, but they are not always given realistic solutions or meaningful support. I experienced both sides—sometimes people avoided telling me the truth, and other times they pointed out my weight without offering any guidance. I wanted to become part of the solution.
That passion eventually led me to create STL Green Eats, where I began helping people access convenient, healthier meal-prep options. From there, my work expanded into Shay’s Wellness Club, wellness education, accountability coaching, walking challenges, content creation, and helping people develop sustainable habits that work within their real lives.
Building my businesses has not always been easy. One of my biggest obstacles was having enough money to get started. At one point, I worked two jobs while also learning different side hustles so I could pay my bills and invest in the equipment, resources, and tools needed to grow my vision. Those experiences taught me how to be resourceful, consistent, and willing to build with what I had instead of waiting for perfect circumstances.
I continue because my goal is much bigger than my personal transformation. I want to help millions of people improve their health and feel supported during their weight-loss journeys. There were times when I felt alone or as though no one truly cared whether I succeeded. I want to create the accountability, community, education, and encouragement that I once needed.
My mission is to help women and men avoid unnecessary procedures, misleading gimmicks, and unsustainable approaches by showing them realistic, enjoyable, and sustainable alternatives. I want the work I build through STL Green Eats, Shay’s Wellness Club, and future ventures to create healthier habits that can be passed down through generations.
One of my biggest long-term goals is to develop a life-changing wellness and accountability companion app that people can access from their smartphones. My vision is to provide customized support for people from high-school age through older adulthood, including fitness guidance, stretching options for different comfort levels, accountability check-ins, monthly challenges, meal planning, wellness education, and even access to meal-prep delivery based on location.
Ultimately, I want people from every background to feel that better health is possible for them. I am building more than a wellness business—I am building the support system, resources, and solutions I wish I had when I first started.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It definitely has not been a smooth road, but I wouldn’t change the journey because every obstacle has made me a better coach, wellness strategist, entrepreneur, and person.
One of my earliest challenges was learning how to lose weight without quick fixes. There wasn’t one moment where everything clicked. It took years of trial and error, learning what actually worked for my body, breaking unhealthy habits, and realizing that sustainable weight loss isn’t about perfection—it’s about consistency. Those lessons now shape everything I teach. My community is called the Wellness Warriors, and one of our mottos is: “Consistency over perfection.
Building my business brought a completely different set of challenges. Like many entrepreneurs, I didn’t have a large amount of money to invest when I started. I worked multiple jobs while learning different side hustles so I could pay my bills and still invest in equipment, software, certifications, branding, and the tools needed to grow my business. There were many days when I questioned whether I was doing enough or if all the hard work would eventually pay off.
Another challenge has been wearing so many hats. As a small business owner, you’re not just the coach—you become the marketer, videographer, editor, customer service representative, accountant, salesperson, and strategist all at once. Learning all of those skills while continuing to serve clients can be overwhelming, but it has also made me appreciate every milestone that much more.
One lesson I’ve learned is that people often see the results without realizing the amount of work that happens behind the scenes. They see the content, the weight loss, the meal prep, or the interviews, but they don’t always see the early mornings, late nights, sacrifices, failures, or moments of self-doubt that made those successes possible.
Perhaps the biggest challenge has been staying committed to a vision that is much bigger than where I am today. My goal has never been simply to help a handful of people lose weight. I want to create a lasting wellness brand that reaches millions, changes the conversation around sustainable health, and leaves a legacy that continues helping people long after I’m gone. Pursuing a vision of that size requires patience, resilience, and the willingness to keep showing up even when progress feels slow.
Looking back, every obstacle has reinforced one belief: consistency beats perfection. That’s true in business, and it’s true in health. The struggles I experienced are the same reason I can genuinely relate to the people I serve today, because I’ve lived through many of the challenges they’re facing.
We’ve been impressed with Shay’s Wellness Club & STL Green Eats, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
At the heart of everything I do is one mission: to help people build healthier lives through sustainable habits, accountability, inspiration, and practical wellness strategies that actually fit into everyday life.
STL Green Eats was born from my own transformation after losing more than 60 pounds naturally. As I learned how to meal prep, understand nutrition, and build healthier habits, I realized many people wanted healthier options but didn’t always have the time, knowledge, or confidence to prepare them. That’s why I created STL Green Eats—to make healthy eating more accessible through fresh meal prep, wellness education, and realistic nutrition solutions. One of the moments I’m most proud of was being featured on NBC News 5’s Wellness Wednesday segment, where I shared my passion for healthier living with our local community.
As my mission grew, so did my vision. That led me to create Shay’s Wellness Club, a wellness community focused on education, accountability, and long-term lifestyle transformation. Through weekly live coaching sessions, wellness challenges, meal-planning guidance, walking challenges, digital resources, and one-on-one strategy sessions, I help people stop chasing quick fixes and start building habits they can maintain for life.
What truly sets my brand apart is that I don’t just teach wellness—I live it. Everything I share comes from personal experience, years of learning, and a genuine desire to make health feel achievable instead of overwhelming. I don’t believe people need another fad diet or miracle product. They need education, accountability, community, and realistic strategies that fit their everyday lives.
One of the things I’m most proud of is the community we’ve built. Watching people celebrate their first week of consistency, complete a walking challenge, prepare healthy meals for the first time, or simply gain confidence in themselves reminds me why I started. Those victories may seem small to others, but they often become the foundation for life-changing transformations.
Looking ahead, my vision extends beyond coaching and meal preparation. I’m building a wellness ecosystem that empowers people at every stage of their health journey. My long-term goal is to create a personalized wellness and accountability platform that combines education, meal planning, movement, accountability, and community into one accessible experience. I will make sustainable wellness available to anyone with a desire to improve their health, regardless of where they’re starting or their budget.
Above all, I want readers to know that my brand isn’t about perfection or helping people fit into a certain size. It’s about helping people create healthier, happier, and longer lives. My mission isn’t simply to help people lose weight—it’s to help them build a lifestyle they never have to escape from. If I can help someone believe in themselves again, build habits that last, and become an example for their family, then I’ve accomplished exactly what I set out to do.
What’s next?
The future is what excites me most because I feel like I’m just getting started.
Over the next few years, my goal is to continue growing Shay’s Wellness Club into a nationally recognized wellness community that helps people lose weight naturally through education, accountability, and sustainable lifestyle changes. I want to reach more people through speaking engagements, media opportunities, strategic brand partnerships, collaborations, podcasting opportunities, and digital education so that practical wellness becomes more accessible to everyone.
One of the projects I’m most excited about is developing a personalized wellness and accountability companion app. My vision is to create a platform that feels like having a wellness best friend in your pocket—one that helps people stay consistent through customized meal planning, fitness guidance, stretching programs, walking challenges, accountability check-ins, progress tracking, and encouragement tailored to their individual goals. I want people of all ages, from high school students to older adults, to have access to affordable, personalized wellness support no matter where they live.
I’m also looking forward to expanding STL Green Eats and exploring new ways to make healthy eating more convenient for busy families and professionals. Whether that’s through additional meal-prep offerings, educational resources, or new partnerships, I want to continue removing barriers that prevent people from living healthier lives.
As my platform grows, I hope to collaborate with more wellness, fitness, and lifestyle brands that genuinely align with my mission. My goal isn’t simply to promote products—it’s to partner with companies that help people make healthier choices, eat cleaner, and improve their quality of life.
Ultimately, I want to build a wellness brand that outlives me. I want people to remember Shay’s Wellness Club and STL Green Eats not just because they helped someone lose weight, but because they helped people build confidence, create healthier families, and develop habits that can be passed down from one generation to the next. If my work inspires someone to believe in themselves and change the trajectory of their health, then I know I’m fulfilling my purpose.
