Today we’d like to introduce you to Chelsea Tamplin.
Hi Chelsea, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I have been an artist since I was very young. When I was around 7 years old I actually thought my mom a picture I had drawn of a cartoon I was watching, she was convinced I traced it. She made me redraw it in front of her. It was then my family started to notice I had an artistic gift. In school I was always the artsy one or the one who won first place when there was an art related classroom competition. But even though I knew I could draw well, I had a social anxiety issue that caused me to not like being watched. I took my art home even in high school and college to avoid being watched. Fast forward, as a young adult with small kids i had become very aware of my issues as most parents are in hopes I don’t pass them down to my children. So I decided to do dance lessons and participate in the recital LOL it was awful, I have no rhythm, but I did it. And then shortly after that, my friend Natalie Hensley with Natsy Art said hey you should try live wedding painting. The idea sounded absolutely terrifying to be honest, but since I had just danced on stage and that was something I was truthfully no good at, surely I could paint in front of others given painting is something I actually had a history in unlike dance. My first wedding involved a lot of trembling and nervous tummy’s, a lot of putting aside anxious thinking, and to this day the guest reactions at that wedding are the best I’ve ever recorded, they were so kind and seemingly blown away. It went really well and then I just kept going! It’s been such a blessing in so many ways.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I kind of answered this in my last question… but once I got past the initial wedding, I do believe it’s been a smooth road. Each wedding brings its own challenges, but I’ve learned you just keep going and it works out.

I am a live wedding painter, I paint live at weddings. Each painter has their own style, I won’t claim to be of any higher level or status than other painters as there are many talented options out here! But my style sets me apart, as does theirs. Art is so fun Becuase what speaks to one person may not speak to the next. My style is soft, delicate, yet detailed and has a lot of depth. I tend to use slightly pastel tones, still vibrant, but people often say my paintings look like chalk. I did work in chalk before I started painting so it makes sense!
Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
I hope to have more traveling, I’d like to acquire a painting in every state and even countries. But also I hope to have time for more original work as well.
