Today we’d like to introduce you to Freddy Kostjerevac.
Hi Freddy, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Like many small businesses, FreddyFit Personal Training started with a vision. I began training 1-on-1 clients while living in my parents’ basement, quickly discovering a passion for customer service, fitness, and serving the fitness community.
I left a full-ride scholarship at a four-year university, where I was pursuing public accounting, to pursue a career in fitness. I learned through hands-on experience, professional certifications, working under mentors, competing in strength sports, and participating in mixed martial arts—experiences that helped establish my identity and credibility within the industry.
In 2013, I officially opened my own LLC. For years, however, FreddyFit Personal Training operated as an independent contractor, renting space within established fitness facilities. It wasn’t until I returned to college to complete my Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Public Accounting that I gained the business knowledge, confidence, and perspective to take the next step.
After 13 years in the industry, that vision became a reality. In December 2025, we opened our first private studio.
Today, FreddyFit Personal Training continues to grow as a brand and company, offering a variety of training and service options designed to meet clients where they are and help them move forward.
What started in a basement has grown into a private training studio built on experience, education, relationships, and a genuine commitment to serving the fitness community.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
One of the biggest challenges in building FreddyFit Personal Training was starting in the fitness industry at a very young age and constantly having to work hard to prove myself. I had to earn the trust and respect of clients, peers, and other professionals while continuing to develop myself as a trainer and as a person.
Those experiences ultimately became some of the most valuable lessons I could bring to my clients. Life does not always go according to plan. Sometimes you work hard and still don’t see the results you want. Sometimes you step on the scale, don’t see the weight loss you expected, or experience setbacks that make you question whether you should continue.
I experienced that firsthand through mixed martial arts. During my competitive career, I suffered three consecutive losses. For me, those losses were about much more than what happened inside the cage. I knew I was being watched, not only as a competitor, but as a trainer. How I responded to those losses would demonstrate whether I truly practiced what I preached.
I had a choice: give up, or get back up.
I chose to get back up.
That period became one of the defining moments of my career. It taught me that setbacks don’t determine who you are—how you respond to them does. As a trainer, I want my clients to understand that the same principle applies to their lives, whether they’re struggling with weight loss, motivation, personal challenges, or professional setbacks.
You will get knocked down. The goal isn’t to never fall. The goal is to develop the strength, discipline, and resilience to get back up.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about FreddyFit Personal Training ?
We are a 2,400-square-foot private training facility built around one simple philosophy: put the client first.
At FreddyFit Personal Training, we provide functional training from a holistic and corrective standpoint. We don’t simply train movement—we assess it, identify limitations, and work to correct them. Whether you’re a top-tier athlete looking to perform at your highest level, an everyday individual dealing with back or movement issues, or someone struggling to get their nutrition and lifestyle on track, we build a strategy around where you are and where you want to go.
Our facility is available 24/7 to our clients and offers more than just a place to work out. Depending on your membership, you can take advantage of amenities such as showers, sauna, recovery massage, and other recovery resources.
We believe in developing a long-term plan, not simply selling workouts. We game-plan with our clients every step of the way, continually adjusting the approach as their needs change. We offer 1-on-1 personal training, small-group training, and in-home training—in other words, we will find the approach that works best for you and do what it takes to help you succeed.
Our goal is ultimately to empower you through autonomy. You decide the direction; we help fine-tune the journey. As you progress, we want you to gain the knowledge, confidence, and tools necessary to eventually be able to succeed on your own.
We don’t spend our time studying our competitors. We spend that time studying our clients, improving our craft, and figuring out how we can better serve the people who trust us with their health and fitness.
And we stand behind our product.
Come train with us for a month. If you’re not satisfied with the experience and don’t feel we’ve delivered on what we promised, we’ll give you your money back.
We believe strongly in what we provide—and we’re willing to put that belief behind a guarantee.
How do you think about luck?
That’s a powerful distinction. What you’re describing is bigger than simply having a successful career—it’s a sense of purpose. I’d frame it with a little more conviction and clarity:
Good luck has certainly played a role in my journey, but in my heart, I know this is my calling from God. Coaching isn’t simply what I do—it’s what I’m meant to do. At this point in my life, anything outside of coaching our clients feels like external noise.
There is no Plan B, because having a Plan B takes something away from Plan A. I’m at a stage where there are plenty of things I could pursue and potentially succeed in, but success alone isn’t the goal. Being a health and fitness coach is my calling.
I don’t want to be successful at something that isn’t meant for me. I want to build, serve, and dedicate myself to the work I believe God put me here to do.
