Today we’d like to introduce you to Lonnie Wesley.
Hi Lonnie, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
My name is Lonnie Renā. Modeling is something I have always wanted to do. However, I have always been shy and reserved. Growing up in North St. Louis City, I was always comfortable being in the shadows, but I knew in my heart I was meant to be something more. It took some time, but eventually I stepped out on faith and stepped into the spotlight. Now, with multiple fashion shows and creative shoots completed, I am comfortable in fast-paced environments and I take direction well. Open to runway, editorial, commercial, and creative collaborations, I am ready to bring versatility and energy to upcoming projects worldwide.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has not been an easy road. As with most things, there were a few struggles along the way. The biggest obstacle I had to face was walking into an unknown world. Being a fresh face in a new environment definitely brought out some insecurities. The feeling of being vulnerable, getting it wrong, and being rejected were all present. The thought that I didn’t belong was a fear that I am happy to say I have overcome!
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I have been in the banking profession for about 10 years. I specialize in ACH Processing. I’m mostly known for my senses of humor and my love for music. I’m most proud of the fact that in-spite of the obstacles I’ve faced in life, I am still choosing to take one step at a time to become a full time model and creative.
How do you think about luck?
With me being an up and coming model, I have been very fortunate and lucky enough to experience many creative movements, such as fashion shows, photoshoots and networking events. Even having the opportunity to be featured in an Hidden Gems interview with you all!
