Today we’d like to introduce you to Samantha Limberg.
Hi Samantha, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
My passion for photography started way back when I was in middle school and 4H taking a photography class. Then in 2013 after highschool I started working with a local photographer who took me under her wing and helped me pursue my passion. After working with her I decided to start my own business in 2014 and that is one of the best decisions I have ever made. I did photography part time from 2014 to 2021. Then went full time photography in August of 2o21 after my dad passed away unexpectedly. I have always known how much emotion and life an image can hold for someone but when he passed away capturing memories has taken on a deeper meaning with every click of my camera. Not only have I been able to watch my business grow over the years but I have developed life long friendships with my clients and other photographers. I travel all over Missouri now documenting all kinds of memories for my clients. I am beyond blessed being able to call this passion of mine a career.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Being in the photography industry has not always been easy. The biggest struggle I have ran into with my business was getting it off the ground in the beginning and things running smoothly. In the beginning there is a lot of trial and error just trying to figure out what works best for your business. The biggest thing I would say I run into now is time. Trying to realize that I can say no to clients and take some time for me. It is easy to get yourself wrapped into overworking and booking everything you can when you enjoy it but you want to avoid burning yourself out and setting boundaries.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am a mid Missouri based photographer that captures everything and anything when it comes to a memory. If it can be documented then it is probably something I will capture. I do work with a lot of kids capturing milestones, big extended/generational families, couples, and weddings. I would say I am best known for my editing style, personality and how I communicate with my clientele, and the little details I capture. I am most proud that I have turned something I love into a job that I get to go to every day. I feel like photographers have their own styles and that is what will set us apart from one another. Our styles and personalities will attract the clientele that is best for our business.
If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
I am told quite often that I have a fun personality and people can tell that I truly love what I do when they see me working. I feel like that alone has helped my business be successful. I am a hard worker and my worst critic so I keep myself on task and working constantly.
