Today we’d like to introduce you to Tanisha Patterson.
Hi Tanisha, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
My story is really a story of faith, resilience, entrepreneurship, and learning how to keep moving forward.
Raised by a single mother in St. Louis County and Graduate of Howard University with a Bachelor’s in Science. I have been an entrepreneur for most of my adult life. I started investing in real estate in my early twenties, and over the years, I have built businesses across real estate, childcare, and healthcare. I earned my MBA and continued to grow professionally, but some of the greatest lessons I have learned did not come from a classroom or a business deal, they came through life.
Behind the success, I was navigating an abusive marriage. Eventually, I had to make the decision to leave and rebuild my life as a single mother of three. That season changed me. I had to rediscover who I was, strengthen my relationship with God, give myself grace, and learn how to move forward even when I didn’t have every answer.
Through that journey, Journey To Healing (JTH) was born.
I realized there were so many women carrying the weight of motherhood, relationships, careers, businesses, financial responsibilities, and life while quietly trying to hold themselves together. I wanted to create a space that reminded them that they were not alone and that their current circumstances did not have to become their final destination.
Today, my work sits at the intersection of God, personal growth, and entrepreneurship. Through Journey To Healing, speaking, business development, and real estate education, I help people rebuild personally while also giving them practical tools to move forward professionally and financially.
I don’t share my story because I want people to focus on what happened to me. I share it because I want someone else to see what is possible afterward.
I have learned that sometimes rebuilding doesn’t mean starting over. It means building again with greater wisdom, stronger faith, clearer boundaries, and a deeper understanding of your purpose.
That is the message I carry today: keep going. Trust God. Trust the process. Your story is still being written.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
No, it was not a smooth road. There were many difficult moments, but through my faith, I knew that God would make a way.
Healing took time, energy, and effort. It did not happen overnight. There were days when I felt strong and days when I simply had to remind myself to keep going. I had to learn how to give myself grace and understand that healing is a process.
One of the biggest lessons I learned was that I didn’t have to have everything figured out. I just had to trust God enough to take the next step.
My faith became my foundation. Even during the seasons when I couldn’t see what was ahead, I believed that God had a greater plan for my life and my children. I continued to pray, work on myself, show up for my family, and keep moving forward.
That experience changed the meaning of resilience for me. Resilience isn’t pretending that something didn’t hurt. It is allowing yourself the time to heal while making the decision that you are not going to stay stuck there.
Today, I can look back and see God’s hand throughout the entire journey. The road wasn’t easy, and healing didn’t happen overnight, but I kept going. And every step forward brought me closer to the woman God intended me to become.

I started my journey in the healthcare industry and real estate, two industries that taught me early on the importance of service, ownership, leadership, and creating financial stability. As my experience grew, I expanded into childcare, currently into non profit (small business development) and other business ventures, ultimately becoming a serial entrepreneur with more than 15 years of experience in business and real estate.
Today, I am a transformational speaker, serial entrepreneur, and real estate investor with a passion for helping others move forward with God as the foundation.
Through my own journey, I learned that financial freedom is about more than making money. It is about having options, stability, ownership, and the ability to create a better future for yourself and your family. I also learned that success means very little if you are not growing spiritually and personally along the way.
That is why one of my greatest focuses today is helping others invest in real estate. I help aspiring and new investors understand how to get started, identify opportunities, build income-producing portfolios, and use real estate as a pathway toward financial freedom and generational wealth.
What sets me apart is that I teach from experience, not just information. I have built businesses, invested in real estate, experienced success, faced setbacks, and had seasons when I had to rebuild. Through every season, my faith has remained the foundation.
As a transformational speaker, I use my story to encourage people to believe that their circumstances do not determine their future. My message brings together God, personal growth, entrepreneurship, and financial empowerment.
What I am most proud of is that my brand has become bigger than business. Whether I am speaking on a stage, teaching real estate, helping an entrepreneur develop a business, or encouraging someone through Journey To Healing (Our Community), the mission remains the same:
Help people move forward, with God as the foundation.
I want people to encounter my brand and leave believing, I can do this. I can rebuild. I can create something different for my family. With God, I can move forward.
We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
I don’t call it luck, I call it God’s grace, favor, and preparation meeting opportunity.
There have been doors that opened in my life and business that I know were bigger than me. There have also been doors that closed that I later realized were God’s protection and redirection.
That doesn’t mean the journey has been easy. I have experienced setbacks, losses, disappointments, and moments when things did not go according to my plan. But even in those moments, I learned to trust that God was still working.
I also believe faith has to be accompanied by action. I pray, but I also prepare. I believe, but I also do the work. Whether it was building businesses, investing in real estate, rebuilding after difficult seasons, or stepping into new opportunities, I have learned to stay ready so that when God opens a door, I am prepared to walk through it.
So when people look at my journey and see success, I don’t consider myself lucky. I consider myself blessed. I believe God’s grace has carried me, my faith has grounded me, and consistency has helped me continue moving forward.
For me, it has always been God as the foundation, faith to believe, and the willingness to do the work.
