Meet Lattral/Hoodie Mula Smoot of St Louis

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lattral/Hoodie Mula Smoot.

Lattral/Hoodie Mula , we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
September 15 2021 the most impactful day of my life thus far. That day I lost my mother . I was working as the bar back at the world famous helium comedy club. Depressed lost not knowing which way to go. I met the comedian Deray Davis for the second time. I had the most heartfelt conversation with him. While pouring out my heart he was trying to to hold his laugh in . He stopped me and asked me was I a comedian I told him no he said i should be . That was the moment I took the pain I was going through and turned it into something great laughter. I then learned how to write jokes from Willie lynch jr which is a childhood friend of mine. Then I had the chance to meet someone that truly inspired me Ali Sadiiq. He is such a genuine person and the advice he gave me is something I’ll hold dearly. I’ve had the pleasure of meeting a few major comedians that inspire me . And for the most part they all given me something to help build my art and my brand. Since then I’ve been working on my craft and creating projects that will hopefully shine a light on myself and others.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The main obstacle is building my name. It’s hard to get on shows and showcases when people don’t really know who you are and your body of work. It’s challenging trying to balance a work life and perform lots of time you have to put a show before your actual job. Especially when lots of the shows aren’t trying to pay. So it’s difficult sometimes to choose between building your career or making the money you need to survive. This is a tough and difficult grind but it has been a journey worth walking.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
Stand up comedian. . What makes me proud is the putting a smile making people laugh . You never know what a person is going through a simple smile a bit of laughter can change the dynamic of a persons day . I think where I differ from other comics is my shock factor .i have that oh wow factor the did he say that i say what other people won’t say with no fear of being shunned. These are joke the world need to loosen up

What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
This dislike I have with my area is the fact there is only two comedy clubs around and not enough support. The people here claim to support but never show up to shows . We have and abundance of talented people here . But we don’t support our own . Once people started to support this area will thrive . What I like most about the city is our drive and ambition. Living in a crime filled area and riddled with with murder people often think the worse there are good people here that what I like the most is the people . I can always find joy and laughter even learn from the people.
