Today we’d like to introduce you to Kyle Pasley (skate School).
Hi Kyle , can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
“It’s hard to let go of my West Coast roots. & I probably never will.”
Skateboarding has been a lifelong passion for me! founded the school to fill a local gap in structured skateboarding instruction while also creating a safe, welcoming environment for riders of all skill levels. Grouped by skill set rather than age,
My classes focus on foundational mechanics, ramp readiness, and essential safety—offering kids as young as four or five an encouraging entry point into the sport.
But Skate school is so much More than just teaching footwork and balance, we use skateboarding to instill life skills like perseverance, resilience, and emotional well-being. By breaking down goals & tricks into small, manageable steps, this program normalizes failure as a natural part of the learning process and celebrates incremental progress. With flexible scheduling and community gatherings—ranging from pizza parties to organized skate outings—this skateboarding program has grown into a tight-knit, supportive network where students build confidence and lasting friendships both on and off the board.
This is job has my heart. And I pour almost every single bit of passion that I have into it!
& I truly thank JESUS for this job each and every day of my life. (prayer really works!)
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It definitely hasn’t been. Tryin to Run a full time outdoor recreational sports program in a place like the Midwest can come with some pretty back-and-forth weather related challenges.
Here in Illinois, we seem to only have a medium sized handful of months out of the year, where we are actually able to practice!
It seems that Two or three months out of the year the ground is covered in snow, while another two months or so come with some pretty intense heat advisory’s.
And we can’t forget the rainy season!
Outside of the questionable Midwest weather, it’s been a pretty great journey!
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
Incorporating things such as “kindness” an acceptance for one another into almost all of our group practices I think will always be one of the highlighted parts about this program.
I myself am a follower of Christ so it’s quite easy for me to fall back into the fruits of the spirit when it comes to leading and coaching the classes.
I strive to Lead these classes with Love, joy, peace, patience, KINDNESS, goodness, gentleness and SELF CONTROL.
While also emphasizing the importance of consistency with practice. As well as the importance of perseverance. And doing so While adopting a “keep going” kind of mentality.
Alright so before we go can you talk to us a bit about how people can work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
