Life & Work with Janelle Turner of St Louis

Today we’d like to introduce you to Janelle Turner.

Hi Janelle, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Hello my name is Janelle Turner and I’m a certified breathworker and event facilitator with Inhalology curating integrated breathwork experiences.

Inhalology was founded on the principle that breath is the foundation of wellbeing. We provide science-backed breathing techniques that reduce stress, increase energy, and improve mental clarity through community experiences, education, and wellness products.

My background is in research and libraries where I first started planning engaging events, but wellness journey began as a teenager practicing yoga before school and evolved through years into international yoga retreats, where I studied and explored holistic practices, eventually leading me to discover the transformative power of breathwork and meditation and received my training and certification from Loka Yoga School . I’m passionate about combining evidence-based research rooted in its origins to help individuals realistically manage stress, enhance focus, and achieve optimal well-being in their daily lives.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I’m always working a 9-5 that is usually demanding, so the past 3 and half years has been about pacing myself and building my own capacity. No one wants to come to an event to relax where the facilitator is also stressed or frazzled. Working with business accelerators like The Center of Innovation & Entrepreneurship with Harris-Stowe State University’ was essential to my growth. So thankful for them.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am currently on sabbatical but waiting on the ink to dry on an Engagement and Fundraising opportunity soon!

Previously, I worked at Greater St. Louis, Inc., where I supported mid-career professionals and their growth through the Fellows Experience, and with St. Louis County in Adult Services.

Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
Nothing risked, nothing gained. Everyone is different but finding out what is outside your comfort zone that is worth risking is an everyday practice for me and how I get a lot enjoyment out life. But there is balance too with it. You still need to rest, reflect, re-strategize (maybe), then repeat. That same cycle on repeat. But only on the things worth it to you. That can be a risk in itself.
