Today we’d like to introduce you to John Kreilich.
Hi john, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I’m John Kreilich, and my story with bacon began long before Naked Bacon had a name. I grew up on a farm, where raising animals and preparing food were part of everyday life. My family passed down a recipe—and with it, a way of thinking about meat: take care with the ingredients, respect the process, and do the work the way it’s supposed to be done.
That upbringing shaped what I value. I learned that good food doesn’t begin in a package; it begins with how animals are raised and how their meat is handled. Curing meat wasn’t just a step in making bacon. It was a craft, learned through family tradition and practiced with patience and care.
In 2010, those roots became the foundation for Naked Bacon. I wanted to bring a piece of my family’s tradition to more people, guided by the standards I grew up with and the belief that bacon should be made thoughtfully—not rushed.
Naked Bacon is personal to me because it connects where I came from with what I set out to create. It’s a family story that began on the farm with a recipe and grew into a commitment to making bacon with care.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Always struggle as an entrepreneur
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Naked Bacon?
Naked Bacon began in 2010, inspired by my family’s recipe and the lessons I learned growing up on a farm. Raising animals and curing meat were part of my upbringing, and they taught me to respect the ingredients and take care with the process.
We specialize in no nitrates, no sugar, no additives—healthy, better-for-you bacon with different flavors. Our goal is to offer bacon with great flavor and simple ingredients, inspired by family tradition and thoughtful preparation.
What sets Naked Bacon apart is the story and care behind it. It grew from a family recipe and a way of doing things I’ve known for years. I’m most proud that we’ve brought those roots together with a variety of flavors and a commitment to making bacon the way it’s supposed to be done.
I want readers to know that Naked Bacon is built on heritage, flavor, and the belief that bacon can be made with care—without the ingredients we choose to leave out.
