Meet Laura Hammann of St Louis

Today we’d like to introduce you to Laura Hammann.

Hi Laura, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I like to think of my journey in three chapters, but the underlining purpose has always remained the same: helping people feel better in their lives, not just their body.
My first chapter began when I became a personal trainer and business owner. I opened YOLO fitness, my own private training studio, because I saw how intimidating the traditional big-box gym environment could be for so many people, especially women. I wanted to create a space where people could feel comfortable, supported, and free from the pressure & judgement. Over the next 12 years, I built a business around one-on-one relationships, helping clients build strength, confidence, and healthier habits.

What I didn’t expect was how much those relationships would teach me. While physical results were often the initial goal, the conversations that made the biggest impact had very little to do with what someone saw in the mirror. I began to recognize how deeply our physical health is connected to our stress, mindset, relationships, habits, and the demands of everyday. People weren’t just coming to me to change their bodies. They were navigating life, and I wanted to understand how I could support them beyond the gym.

That realization led me into my second chapter: health & lifestyle coaching. I pursed additional education and became a National Board Certified Health and Wellness coach, which gave me another way to help people explore the patterns and behaviors that influence their well-being.

Today I practice at BLOOM Mind+Body Co. in Oakville, a wellness practice that brings together counseling, coaching, movement, and mindfulness. I love being part of an environment where we recognize that people are whole human beings and that well-being is rarely about just one area in life. Through my work at Bloom, I can continue helping clients build physical strength in our studio while also supporting them as they work toward greater awareness, balance, and sustainable habits.

My recent chapter is one I’m especially excited about. I’ve been developing a corporate wellness venture with a colleague. He and I want to help organizations recognize the importance of connection, belonging, resilience and creating environments where people can thrive. We believe that when people feel supported as human beings, it can positively influence how they experience their work and how they show up in their lives. When I look at these 3 chapters together, they don’t feel like separate careers to me. They feel like a natural progression. I’ve gone from helping people become stronger physically, to supporting their overall well-being, to exploring how we can bring those same principles into the workplace.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. Growth doesn’t happen in a straight line. Juggling my whole life like I support others is certainly a challenge. I’ve spent years building my career while also being a wife and a mother to 4 children. Trying to show up for my family while pursuing something I’m passionate about has been both rewarding and taught me adaptability. Like many working moms, I’ve had seasons where I felt like there weren’t enough hours in the day to give everything to everyone.

My biggest obstacle has been learning to navigate change and trust myself through the uncertainty that comes with growth. Stepping outside my comfort zone, pursing additional education, and being willing to start a new chapter, all in my 40s.

My family is my core. They inspire me to keep moving forward and that I don’t have to have it all figured out. Staying curious always helps….

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
Guiding individuals through lifestyle changes, managing stress, accountability, movement, mindfulness and getting back to themselves. Creating awareness and leading to how they feel. Many individuals live daily on autopilot. I create a space to slow down and create sustainable habits that support their whole health. I am most proud of my client’s success! When a client begins to feel the differences from their changes- it’s a beautiful domino effect… Transformations have blown me away….
If it is losing 50lbs or changing their career, relationships, etc…. Living just starts to feel better…..
I can simplify for my clients. I create change that is doable- No all or nothing – no perfectionism.

Before we go, is there anything else you can share with us?
Honestly- I think the best piece of advice is that improving your health doesn’t have to be as hard as you think.
Small consistent changes add up and over time you will be amazed. This is possible with support and awareness.
You can change your health; one body for life, but you are limitless.
