Meet Alexis Austriaco of Love is Mehndi

Today we’d like to introduce you to Alexis Austriaco.

Hi Alexis, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
At the age of 20, I first discovered the art of henna and all its glory! I remember I wanted henna done myself; however, the person who was supposed to do my henna for me had to leave early. So, I decided to buy a cone at an Indian grocery store and started practicing on myself and have never stopped since then.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The road has been semi-bumpy. A lot of no’s from clients but also a lot of yes and reoccurring clients. Which I am so grateful for!

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
Love is Mehndi is a henna/Jagua company that is about self-love by giving the Love is Mehndi clients a heartwarming experience with henna or Jagua. The artist goes above and beyond to see a smile on the client’s face. Love is Mehndi customizes the client’s henna or Jagua design by sketching up ideas prior to the meeting. This is done by the client sending the artist photos of ideas or talking their vision with the artist. Love is Mehndi also has a merchandise page on the website at www.loveismehndi.com. The merchandise page has t-shirts, sweatpants, stickers, posters, coffee mugs and more.

What makes you happy?
My family makes me happy because they are the reason that keeps me going with Love is Mehndi henna/Jagua design company. People, in general, make me happy, I love interactions with other people I love getting to know their story and where they come from.
