Today we’d like to introduce you to Kiesha House.
Kiesha, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
My love for style stems from my childhood. Growing up, both my mother and my father were the epitome of effortless style. They always seemed to be one step ahead of the latest trends and even casually, they were always dressed well from head to toe. I saw my parents transition from high top fades and track suits in the 80s, to the baggy jeans, door knocker earrings, and the latest sneaker trends of the 90s. Even the basic jeans and t-shirt combo, was never boring for either of them. My parents are the reason I love everything about style and what it represents. As a shy teenager, I quickly learned, even though I didn’t have a lot to say, what I wore could still speak volumes. For me, style is not only a representation of who you are, but also a way to introduce yourself without uttering a word. Working in a corporate environment only deepened my love for style, and allowed me to express it every day. I live by the motto, “The world is your runway,” and I guess you can say that is my inspiration for getting ready each day. What I didn’t expect, was how my love for style and simply taking pride is dressing each day, would connect me with so many different people. What started as simple conversations over someone stopping me to compliment my shoes or what I wore, quickly turned into blossoming friendships and opened doors I never expected. One of those rare meetings and conversations on an elevator turned into me currently serving as Chair for the Marketing & Outcome segment of the Leadership Team at my firm. Since launching my blog I have also had the pleasure of working with a few brands including Erker’s 1879 and I am an affiliate for WMNSWR. The connections I made socially and professionally is what inspired me to start the Simply Kiesh blog, which I launched in June 2020 as a birthday gift to myself. The idea behind the blog was to not only share my love for style, but also to connect with people all over the world who shared that same love. I also wanted to highlight Midwest style, more specifically St. Louis, which in my opinion, is one of the most underrated cities from a style perspective.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?Starting my style blog had been a vision for quite some time. I did struggle with the execution because I wanted to ensure that the reality aligned with everything I’d envisioned. I also struggled with how to make my website aesthetically pleasing
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I currently work for a Brokerage Firm, where I have transitioned into various roles ranging from Operations, to Legal & Compliance. All of my roles have been centered around risk, controls and thriving in an ever-changing environment. I completed my MBA in 2020 with an emphasis on Leadership, with the goal of ultimately landing a role that allows me to focus more on serving in a leadership capacity and expanding my knowledge in both a corporate and entrepreneurial setting.
Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
Giving back and being of service to others makes me happy. The close connections I have with my inner circle, exercising, more specifically running also makes happy. The fact that I am fortunate enough to wake up each day with breath in my body, have peace of mind, and the ability to put my feet on the floor (and in a pair of cute heels) contributes to my happiness. I genuinely appreciate those small things in life that are so easy to take for granted.Whether it’s a few extra minutes of sleep in the morning, a peaceful night at home with a good movie or just good times with the people I love the most. Oh and wait, COFFEE! Coffee makes me very happy!
