Check Out Christina Kennedy’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Christina Kennedy.

Hi Christina, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I was 8 years old when I first remember picking up a camera. I had a new little brother who made the perfect muse. I spend the next year hounding my parents for film and to get my film developed. The two years after that brought some hard transitions for us, our older brother died in a tragic accident, our parents got divorced and we were homeless for a while. The next time I would pick up a camera consistently was as a 16-year-old single mom of a beautiful baby girl. I spent the next 10 years photographing my children excessively, much to their dismay. I had 2 more children, got married, went to college, and was hired in my field before graduation.

A few years later I went to my husband in tears and told him I hated my job, without hesitation he told me to quit. I spent the next few years figuring out what I had really always known, while my husband kept our family afloat. I finally found my way back behind a camera, and I have been there ever since. I started originally photographing show dogs for magazines, then families, and finally found my true calling in weddings. As cliche as it sounds, I love all things love. A few years ago, my husband joined me in the wedding industry, as a DJ for my company and my son runs our Photo Booth. Allowing us to offer more to our clients, and help simplify their wedding planning process.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has been smooth for the most part. My friends and family had a lot of doubts that I could make a living in a very saturated industry.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am a photographer and business owner. I specialize in weddings, but I do also photograph boudoir and births. My company is most known for offering wedding packages that include photography, DJ, and Photo Booth services. I am most proud of overcoming obstacles to be where I am today. What sets me apart from other wedding photographers is that I am invested in my couples love stories and capturing it in a way that reflects it authentically. I want them to look back at their images 20 years from now and feel the way they felt in that moment.

Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
My husband who gave me the freedom to chase my dream, my children who were my inspiration to become my best self, and my little brother for being my first muse.
