Today we’d like to introduce you to Edward Thornton.
Hi Edward, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I spent the early years of my life living in California, Not the Glitzy parts like L.A or San Fransisco, but in the middle of the Hi Desert. My family located to St Louis Missouri where I developed a passion for technology thru music. I would often crash the family computer and we couldn’t afford a technician so I became that. I went to school at the University of Missouri and Studied Information Systems and Computer Technology
After growing tired of typical Movies & Books where African Americans are depicted in a negative light, he decided to write The Red Leopard Saga which depicts Black Anti-Hero “Red Leopard” set 252 years in the Future. Living in Inner-city St Louis as a child Edward would read Harry Potter, And Lord Of the rings novels while not studying or building robots. I now create digital products in which the world enjoys
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The hardest part about the business of Software development sometimes is putting yourself out there. Me being a naturally reclusive person It was an adjustment to doing talks & managing clients initially. After growing up in several different projects and public housing areas across St Louis Then attending a high school with a 64% dropout rate. I would say that at this point everything is looked at a “pretty easy barely an inconvenience”. I just do a lot of research and make sure I stay in the Loop with the latest changes in technology
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
We started off as a Software development firm back in 2018 and have rapidly expanded our brand into a Top company Offering Digital products and Experiences.
We have a wide range of digital products and services ranging from software development & consulting. Down books, music, short films, and apps on Alexa, Google Home, iOS, and google play stores
I believe what sets us apart from most other Software communities is our commitment to the urban community. We believe in giving back which is exactly why we hold free resource giveaways and back-to-school events right here in St Louis frequently. We also host “Tech And Chill” events which is aimed at creating a Tech networking atmosphere right here in St Louis which aims to turn St Louis into the next big tech hub of The World, by connecting some of the most talented and innovative people in the city
We strive to bridge the gap between people and technology, by developing tools to make life easier. Our aim is to design and create the future
Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
As a person that has traveled to a lot of places, I may have an interesting outlook on this question. When considering a place, I often base it on four things ” Cost of living, Access to opportunity, Food, and overall safety”
Cost of living is 1 of the best things about St Louis and I enjoy being in St Louis because everything isn’t overpriced. When comparing some other options like Atlanta, Los Angeles, New York, Dallas, etc. St Louis has the same modern amenities of western society but could be found at a cheaper cost. Also, the food here is amazing and there are many restaurants around town to choose from so you never run out of options to eat as long as you get there before 10 pm.
As far as access to opportunity I feel like we undoubtedly need a lot more to offer in terms of the education system and making resources available to all. Living in the inner city for most of my life I saw the socioeconomic gap in education, jobs, and opportunities first hand. And see how the education systems directly affect the community. As far as crime if you google search “crime-ridden cities” St Louis pops up 1st on the list.
