Life & Work with Cleaves Macomb of The Grove

Today we’d like to introduce you to Cleaves Macomb.

Hi Cleaves, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Imagine a heavily influenced young mind, from about the year 1995, having difficulty year end, year out, reporting to the teacher for Career Day, a consistent message about “What I Want To Be When I Grow Up!” That was me. The consistent presence in my life was the mixtapes I recorded from the radio growing up, making beats with left-over drum machines from a studio, and an undeniable love of listening to music.

Fast forward from grade school, to my third year studying at University, knowing the end of my educational journey was coming to an abrupt halt, the only other solution that meant anything to me, was to take my then “beat making” more seriously, and either have a life that was worth living, or not accomplishes anything noteworthy as an adult. Returning home, feeling like a failure, no job, confidence shredded into confetti, I struggled with doing anything more than diving into the beat making process, visiting the rhythms and lyrical arrangements and exercises of artists new and old, stored on over 120 DVD-ROM’s, utilizing the 4.7 GB storage space to capacity, and learning to live within a familiar nostalgic space of the audio memories that captured some of my favorite moments in music.

For a short while, a particular mentor of mine allowed me to find my footing in the music world by assisting with setting up beat-making sessions for summer camp participants ranging from the ages of 7-14. This was back in 2008. From then, without any safety net of support, I embarked on a journey that would align me with a then, new to the scene DJ here in St. Louis, who goes by DJ Whiz, and test my value as an entertainment professional, going a very unconventional route to success in the entertainment world.

The relationship I built with DJ Whiz empowered me to “Turn Up” on my journey of being the best entertainment professional I could be, and after a few years outside of STL, I felt there was still another level I could reach, and DJ Whiz made a call. Now, I’m “All About The Level Up!” Here in St. Louis, bringing the skills and knowledge I acquired by “Banging My Head Against The Walls Of Success,” and provide value to the company Certain Media Studios powered by Wealthy Mindset.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
I like to leave advice for anyone that is setting out to accomplish anything that their heart and/or mind can’t ignore, and it’s simply that you have to be ready to demand during the toughest of times, the very outcome of your desire, down to the most specific detail of the exchange, and see through your eyes, and into your possession, accomplishing the goal, crossing that particular finish line, and being successful.

I’ve been homeless in multiple states, in relationships that weren’t healthy beyond the fact that I chose to take the experience as a lesson, I’ve been depressed, counted out, stabbed in the back, let down, fooled… The struggle is so much a part of the story of success in my opinion, and the details of my struggles may very well be painstakingly identical to anyone that’s struggled on their road to success.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
The way I think about myself at this point, I’m like the “Goin’ To Work Pistons!” I’m most proud of the fact that I continue to this day, to gain an understanding of what I’m challenging myself to do, start at the blueprint designing stage, and lay every single brick as perfectly as I’m capable of laying it, and build until the “task” is complete.

From producing a track to Audio Engineering to Consulting on Media Projects and Business, I bring value to anyone seeking my services and assist in increasing the potential return on investment. It takes a lot of research to feel accomplished at what I do, and I’m my own worst critic to this day lol.

Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
I may NEVER live up to the legacies of the multitude of names that I can mention. The story of my success so far can be accredited to GOD first and foremost, then pretty much everyone else that ever challenged me to do something I didn’t think at the time as possible. Surprisingly, not everyone is encouraged in my story.

The latest on this list is Darian Wigfall, my St. Louis plug. Shortlist, but this is only a chip of the iceberg for the story I’m telling. A few people on my list will not get a chance to see this, or any shout-out to them, that affects me a little bit. The foreword of my first few books will mention them all and highlight the specific details of their presence in my life.
