Meet Courtney McRoberts of Delightful Cookies

Today we’d like to introduce you to Courtney McRoberts.

Hi Courtney, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstories.
I used to help my grandmother bake and cook when I was a child, especially around the holidays. I loved everything she made. Her chocolate chip and walnut cookies were my absolute favorite. I attempted to copy her recipe but I never could get it right in my opinion, so I came up with my own recipe.

I started to bring cookies to work for my team and coworkers, a few people said the cookies were so good they would pay for them. What’s that saying? “When you’re good at something, you’ll tell everyone. When you’re great at something, they’ll tell you.” ― Walter Payton That was about seven years ago and I’ve come a long way since then.

I baked more during the holidays or what I like to call my “cookie season” (September-February) and sporadically throughout the year. Selling cookies was nice and seeing the orders bagged and tagged gave me a sense of satisfaction but I wanted more. I wanted to thrive!

Towards the end of 2021, I decided to use social media to promote more, I contacted a few graphic designers for a logo, created an Instagram account for my cookies and, most recently I launched my website!

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Baking cookies can be bitter sweet. Dropping a tray full of cookies after burning the one before can discourage you. Failed recipes, burns, and sore hands didn’t keep me from finding the perfect combination of ingredients.

Even with some ideas sounding better in my head than the actual finished product, I had to keep trying. I struggled with motivation and confidence in the past but I put an end to making excuses.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Delightful Cookies?
I like to offer nontraditional flavors to draw people in. I mean, where else can you get a Strawberry Cheesecake cookie? I really enjoy seeing people’s reactions when they try a Delightful Cookie for the first time. It honestly brings me so much joy. The thing about cookies, the possibilities are endless.

I like to create cookie recipes out of drinks and other desserts. For example, I offer flavors like, Eggnog, Strawberry Lemonade, and Red Velvet. The Somethin’ Amazin’ (like a Snickerdoodle) and Cookies & Cream Cheesecake are my bestsellers. I’m proud of my vision becoming a reality. From the recipes to the packaging.

I feel as though my product is a representation of me. I see myself when I look at my cookies. I am happy to complete online orders and cater events. No order is too small, it motivates me regardless.

Do you have recommendations for books, apps, blogs, etc?
The app “Motivation” has really been a good source to keep me going. You can choose when and what you would like to be motivated about. Receiving encouraging quotes and affirmations throughout the day is a pleasant notification for sure.

I enjoy watching Dave Ramsey when it comes to financial stability. I appreciate his content because he gets straight to the point. Even though I bake cookies, I don’t need that part of my life sugar coated, this is business and I aim for financial freedom.
