Rising Stars: Meet Megan Fairless

Today we’d like to introduce you to Megan Fairless.

Hi Megan, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers?
My interest in videos started in 2008 when my friend Hayley and I made a youtube channel. After that, I got into doing stop animations with clay at my dad’s sign shop. Around the age of 14, I was introduced to Michael Gebben. He owned Gebb’s Total video right up the street from my dad’s shop. I mentored him in learning how to film and edit weddings.

I was given awesome opportunities to meet influential people across the country during that time. I started Megyme Productions at the age of 16 in 2011, filming my first wedding with my parents’ help. Since then, I have filmed hundreds of wedding days.

I picked up doing photography around 2012. It started with my close friends asking me to take their senior photos just because I had the camera anyway. I ended up really enjoying it and started offering photography more. I really enjoy portrait photography because I am able to focus on one person and help show off how amazing they are.

Over the years, I started doing more than just wedding videos. I started doing business, music, and tourism videos. I really enjoy getting to highlight the best part of our community. I was able to do more thanks to so many friends who helped with my business. Jordan Bruce became a staple in the team by helping filming and editing on most of the projects.

Rylee Reed helped me more on the photo side of my business. My career has given me so many amazing opportunities over the years. I’ve made some of the most inspiring friends along the way, too. I wouldn’t trade this for anything.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
There are always challenges. But, I always try to focus more on how I can make something better. Try and make the best opportunity out of anything.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I specialize in video and photos. I am known for my Wedding Highlights and Same Day Edits for films. For Photography, I am known for Portraits and Senior Photos.

I think what sets me apart from others is that I always try and have a good time during shoots. I want to make friends with everyone there and help people relax while in front of the camera.

What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
I’ve learned to always keep pushing and working hard. Make friends with people who inspire you to do better. Anything is possible with the right passion and direction.

To constantly value me. And I think the biggest lesson I’ve learned is how blessed I am to have the support throughout all these years.
