Conversations with Dajana Carter

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dajana Carter.

Hi Dajana, tell us about your journey. How did you get to where you are today?
Being that I come from a very musical and prestigious family, the choice of success was always within reach.

And that pretty much explains how I started. I was/am very blessed to have two extraordinarily gifted parents who took the time to cultivate my very own unique expressions in the arts.

How I’ve gotten to where I am today is by having my zeal, my work ethic, and directional help in being able to maintain and exercise lifelong teachings, which have helped me survive not only in my professions but in life as well.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
This has defiantly been a winding road in a continuous uphill journey.

With the unforeseen passings of my beloved father and brother, unpredicted sickness that would befall my mother, with years of emotional struggles I had to share with my siblings. And that’s just the personal side.

Another struggle I’ve endured is attempting to hold on to my identity while having to maneuver through a cutthroat industry filled with entities that don’t want to celebrate the strengths of being unique, but they work overtime to make you a duplicate of what’s customary better yet just plain ordinary.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
As an entrepreneur in the arts of entertainment, I am blessed to do a number of things! I specialize in being an active musician in the areas such as live performances, vocals, and show coordination.

I am most known for being a Vocalist/Singer and the daughter of musical producer, writer, and artist Melvin E. Carter of ConFunkShun, an American R&B and funk band whose popularity began in the mid-1970s and ran through the 1980s.

I am most proud of myself. Just being honest! I’m proud that I haven’t given up on anything in this life. I’m proud that my narrative is a testimony that has literally helped others!

What sets me apart from others is I just won’t stop lol. Like I legit refuse to cease. There is a soul purpose I’m driven by and I’m held captive by the calling within. Another thing that sets me apart is the love I have.

The love I have towards my gift-giver Yahweh, the love I have from my family, and the love I have to be of respected use while I’m physically present on this earth.

Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting out?
Yes, my advice to someone starting out is this.

No one can stop the plan for your life. You’re going to come across a lot of people and situations that will attempt to affect your confidence about YOUR gifts. Drown the skepticism, negativity, and doubt out! Stay encouraged and don’t solely look for encouragement from others.

There are going to be many days and nights where you are going to have to uplift yourself. Also, the journey is a lot, but boy o boy it is worth it when you finally experience the manifestations of your calling.
