Daily Inspiration: Meet Paula Reed

Today we’d like to introduce you to Paula Reed.

Hi Paula, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
It started about 12 years ago when I started to experience hair loss. I had been wearing quick weaves for years and it was starting to take a toll on my hair. I had been in hair school for maybe a year when I decided to look into wigs so I can preserve my edges.

I started buying what I thought was quality hair from well-known companies. I was sadly mistaken!! The hair would only last a few weeks instead of the years like they claimed! I became fed up with spending hundreds of dollars on crappy hair.

So, I decided to start my journey for quality hair in 2018 once I perfected my craft of making wigs. I started looking for a quality hair vendor and finally found one! My goal is to help people who suffer from hair loss help them see that they are beautiful no matter what and provide them with a wig that looks natural and quality hair that will last for years and not weeks or months. I want people to feel how I felt with a wig on, Beautiful and confident!

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
No, it hasn’t been a smooth road. The whole process was challenging. Finding vendors, deciding what to sell, money, website. Doing research is very important when starting a company. Figuring out who your clients are. Remember to post on all social media.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
Currently, I’m in school for accounting and working as a Tax expert for TurboTax. I have a year to go before I have my associate’s. As far as my business, I specialize in custom wigs. I’m proud of actually having enough balls to start my business.

I sell raw Indonesian hair that’s very similar to African American hair. I’m proud to say that I’m now inside of Prime Top Boutique located at 11726 Saint Charles Rock Road in Bridgeton, Mo 63044. We have everything a woman wants and needs! Clothes, shoes, jewelry, hats, purses, lip gloss, eyelashes, wigs, bundles, natural body butter and oils, and natural tea and yoni teas, and a makeup artist! We are a one-stop-shop!!

Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
Be patient, post as much as you can, do vendor events, and network. Always go with your first mind or you will constantly spend money on things you want to constantly change.
