Today we’d like to introduce you to Keith Van Gels.
Hi Keith, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My name is Keith Van Gels but I created an alter-ego, KaneVanGate38, on YouTube and other social channels. Kane is hockey/beer-league/self-obsessed but harmless. This “character” has allowed me to see and do some really cool things in the hockey community.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I wouldn’t say there were struggles nor would I see it was always a smooth ride. For me, it wasn’t even remotely close to being overnight, however, so I’d say it’s taken a lot of patience.
No one “Hockey Journey” – a documentary film we produced that coincides with the YouTube channel… THAT had a lot of bumps and hurdles but we got through it. You can see the trailer or get more info at HockeyJourney.com.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Aside from the aforementioned YouTube channel, I’m a local actor/model with Talent Plus, but I’m best known as a hockey goalie coach. I’ve been lucky to be very busy in the coaching circuit, which allows me the luxury of paying my bills and still having the ability to pursue other ventures such as acting.
Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
The restaurants. I love going out to eat in this town. We also have a handful of cool concert venues, like the Fox. I do wish our downtown was more vibrant. It’s definitely a different layout than most cities.
